fact - recenly BKD was a huge success and the credit mostly is given to varun which means every one acknowledges that alia despite being on a roll has little contribution in the opening numbers
even phillauri which is essentially anushka sharma film's opening was given to dilip dosanjh's presence .

So admit it or not , women in bollywood are just a showpiece and it is not going to change at the moment.

Bhai ,dont insult kangana by saying she is just an actress/woman...here we r talking abt the hero kangana ...since she is the hero of all the movies she acted and hence qualifies for crowd pull to theatres as equally as other heroes...but she clearly lacks the crowd pull ... her claim to fame is only controversies...period...

???? And? what about the verdict? How many films has she even done in last 2 to 3 years? You talk as if she has been doing main lead roles for her 10+ years in bollywood and only gave two hits of Queen and TWMR. She did shitty roles because that's what she was offered and now she is offered better roles, thus she is doing those roles. And obviously you don't want me to say anything beyond the fact that she is a flop. so yeah, I guess my two paragraphs were pointless from your point of view. And Katti batti and rangoon did not have script that connected with audience or even a solid script to begin with. She can't bring people to theater with shitty scripts, not many people can. That's all I said. but, whatever obviously you don't want a discussion... My fault. 🥱

Totally agree.

Kangana has ZERO Box Office Pull.. after the success of Queen, she did numerous so called 'women centric' movies (Rajjo, Revolver Rani etc) but ONLY Tanu Weds Manu was a success..rest ALL Flops or Disasters.. & TWMR was a success only because it was a sequel to a much loved & successful movie & had a fun script & not because it rode on Kangana's starpower.

If Kangana was any crowd puller.. many of her so called women centric movies post Queen which rode on her shoulders only would've been successful too.. but fact is she was never a crowd puller but just an internet sensation!

PS. I love your posts.. always on point & never bias! ⭐️

Actually scripts can't bring audiences in opening weekend

It's star power and very limited credit goes to music or controversy

Star power and face value matters for opening and post TWMR look at opening of her films

Talking about star power Varun and Alia can pull more people with ease into cinemas. Despite doing something like Dear Zindagi, Udta Punjab or Badlapur

She's an overhyped actress.
But Imo, Indian BO is gradually changing over the years. Nobody is a crowd puller now(other than Salman ofcourse), Fan's failure is a big evidence. People want to watch films which has Stories of their interest. Yes, as a country we enjoy Masala flicks more like Chennai express but we do enjoy sth like Love you Zindagi or Queen (Maybe coz they strike a balance :/ ) every now and then. Having a big star helps in publicising it and may ensure a decent opening but if the movie is not everyone's cup of tea than people are not going to watch it just for the star(Salman Khan being the only exception.)

As for Kangana, she is one of the most overhyped actressees of this generation. I like her acting but it is undeniable that her acting can not stand out without a well backed story. Thus, so many failures at BO. Katti Batti is a proof enough which If I remember correctly released after Queen or TWMR 2. While we have actors who stand out even in bad stories, Amitabh Bacchan for example. But nobody I know goes for movies ki aaj acting dekhne jaayenge, kya acting karta hai ladka. Sucess in BO is all about numbers and not about how much you are talked about in Media (Even KRK is talked about a lot. Does that make him succesful?) I am not writing her off as better or worse than anyone in current lot but she gets way more credit than she deserves. Also, The card of Pseudo-feminism works quite well in our country. Everyone has their set of struggles but delving into self pity all the time while being obnoxiously rude to everyone for no reason is the behaviour of a teenager than a grown up woman whose success stories I can pass on to my children. Sometimes it's better to eat the humble pie. Kill them with kindness.

Wouldn't you club Aamir as a crowd puller with Salman ???

Rajjo and Revolver rani were signed at the same time she signed queen. And at that time, she was expecting her career to be finished. Idk obviously I'm not following the logic of somehow pulling people automatically to theaters because one film hitting big. I personally think scripts play a huge part in how much success films get in recent times, exception being salman films. And in Katti batti, she barely had any role. But, I am not going to argue her case for being commercially successful actress here. I'm looking towards her future and how she learns from her failure to pick or create better scripts.

I would say Aamir is crowd puller because of his script sense. He has honed his talent for picking great scripts over the years that connect with the audiences and play up his strengths. Whereas, people just go to see salman, regardless of scripts, it's another matter if a script is good and it pulls more people to the movies. But salman will still have that huge chunk of audiences that just want to see him on the screen and trust him to do well in that masala genre that is his forte. It's another matter than now even he has slightly moved away from that genre to do some movies with solid scripts.
