Would it really be so difficult or strange to act in this manner? For instance, with Sonam, people could have simply left it at her outfit not being tasteful instead of trying to scrutinize her reasoning behind wearing it, deeming it an affront to 'Indian culture', talking of what defines empowerment for her and for other women, what "decent"/"respectful" women should wear, etc.
What is the need for this kind of moral judgment? Why do people who dress in a more 'covered up' or 'eastern' way feel okay in claiming a moral high ground over those who don't ascribe to the same thinking? I find that way sillier than the asset flaunting that goes on, to be honest.
