Somehow, baring skin is equivalent to modern and empowering. I always have this doubt about women wearing this risque and baring stuff? What is their purpose?
Do they want to feel sexy and empowered? Do they like themselves being half naked? It gives them some boost of self confidence? Do they crave for attention? Surely, they will get noticed. So they will get attention. Do they not want attention? Then it is better to cover up.

Do they want to be complimented? Then they should be ready for not so complimentary comments. But no, if everybody says "hey you look fabulous, your cleavage is awesome!!" Then all smiles and blushes...but if somebody thinks "hey this is for a tv show that kids might watch and maybe this is too much skin show for young minds" then it is "hey it is my body, my choice" blah blah.

It is like ultimate paradox. Maybe people around these cleavages should behave as if nothing out of the ordinary is happening. Like ya we saw your dress,,,now let's move on. Is that what we need to be at?
Surely, people who wear these dresses want to be noticed for that cleavage.. 😆
maybe if nobody notices it, then their ego might get hurt.

All this talk about stop objectifying women, and then said women go and dress themselves as objects and cry foul.

Don't know from where to start... if educated people talk like this then it's not surprising that girls who get raped are being told you wear stuff like this that's why this is happening to you. So just because a woman wears revealing clothes she is all sorts of evil, she is egoistic - check, she is insecure and craving attention - check. And she is presenting herself as an object - check. What century are people living in dude! Such a sad thread.

Haven't read last few pages here but

There has to be a middle ground between wanting to cover a woman head to toe including face and wanting to strip everything

This topic wasnt actually about ehat women should wear or not but more about fashion being westrnized while the eastern dresses get lost somewhere..It was about the inclibation towards cleavage dresses and nothing more.. there was no point of what anyone should or should not wear.. it was about the reason behind the inclibation barring the stale my body my choice argument.. but geez.. the women empowerment, modernism, conservative and rape angle.. like seriously geez

I don't think she/he meant that... Where did she say that? And it's not a sad thread, fun discussion about latest fashion and trend...
Don't we comment when men dress inappropriately? We can disagree on what is considered appropriate...

Celebrities and their fans can't expect all positive comments. They're going out in public and trying to get attention. Some of that will be complimentary and some won't be. It's pretty silly to start complaining about body-shaming and how it's their right to wear what they want. Of course it is; nobody is stopping them but people are allowed to comment.

I have no issue with wearing a swimsuit on the beach because it's the appropriate thing and the men and kids are also dressed similarly.

But it's the strangest thing to me that these events have men fully dressed from head to toe, sometimes in layers, while the women have half their bodies hanging out like a piece of meat. It just seems like they're devaluing themselves. How is it empowering to be revealing so much while the men aren't?

Hey I'm all for it if the men too go to awards shows with weird cut outs in their pants, or shirtless wearing only ties, etc. Then it would be fine since both genders are treated the same.

^^ Thank you for that.. God I cant believe ppl feel the need to brinv in rape every time clothing style is questioned... just because someone is questioning the skin show, it does not automatically mean they are supporting the cover if you want to avoid rape argument

I think you misunderstood my post. Let me try again. Before that, let me clarify. Please don't assume I am one of those people who make statements like "she asked for it by her dressing". In my opinion those are scum of scum. I am not talking about it. Please don't push everybody having an opposing opinion into the extremist section.
Here the discussion is, in the eastern country with its own culture and tradition and style present, why majority of celebrities ape western culture and style? Is it meant to be empowering? Is it meant to mean they are more modern? I hope you got what I am trying to say.
