I think it's more about the fact that pretty girls with bad acting are able to make it, like Shraddha and Katrina and others but male actors are not able to make it on just looks.

I actually blame the female audience - or rather praise them for it.

Guys will show up in the theater to watch Katrina shaking her ass but women won't show up just to watch John Abraham taking his shirt off. Looks alone don't matter to most women.

So we make average looking male actor bigger actors. Also my question of one good looking guy with loads of talent who could not make big because we got jealous of his popularity with girls is not answered.

Eh, I think neither guys or girls relate well with people who are too good looking. It's hard to take them seriously in roles especially down-to-earth normal person type of roles because their looks are distracting. Most people cannot connect to someone like Aishwarya or Hrithik and even if they gain fame, they will never be the most beloved.

People identify more with actors who seem relatable. I don't know if it's due to jealousy or not but who would buy Aishwarya playing some middle class girl next door? Or Hrithik playing some lower class guy struggling to get a job in a factory? Aish fails majorly when she tries to do roles of substance and it makes perfect sense that Hrithik sticks to larger than life emperors and superheros.
I disagree, Aish gave her best performances when she deglamed. Plus yes I can easily believe Aish as next door chick and the next chic in my old locality was super beautiful 😆.
HR has never really played a role where he is poor throughout, the ones he did come near like KHPH and Agneepath are loved by Indian male audience.

The purchasing power argument is flawed bc the girl audience that exists doesn't turn out for ARK, Sid movies (unlike the guy audience for Katrina/Shraddha). Even girls prefer to watch SRK, RanBir/Veer, Varun, etc.
I know ormax is a stupid survey, but has Sid cracked the top 10 any time in the last couple years?

Plenty of beautiful female actresses haven't made it, simply for lacking x-factor and failing to catch interest. Alia is primed to be the next number one inspite of being average looking. Likeability is much more complex than "guys demand beauty & are threatened by goodlooking guys".

I personally have no problem seeing Aish in deglammed roles, but it's true she never captured audience popularity with them. It's not like Aish in Raincoat propelled her fame. All of the most popular & beloved actresses haven't been jarringly beautiful (post like the Old Hollywood/ Old Bollywood stage) Totally agree that's it's hard for really good looking people to across as relatable & rootworthy regardless of gender.

Disgusting men👎🏼
Do not allow good looking guys to be sucessfull
Allows only pretty girls to be most popular
And then forces every girl in he come across to make and join fan clubs of such ppl , forcefull make them watch their movies , tweet ,fb ,argues for them on forum and dont let them do this stuff for their fav good looking guys.

Hello there 😳

Agree with this. It is sexism and the fact that our female audience on average lacks purchasing power.

Personally, I don't think only good-looking people should act but when there is such clear discrimination against good-looking guys just 'cause the audience is insecure of them, then I have to point it out.

I also feel a lot of these BW actresses date these actors only 'cause of their position in society. These men get the pick of these good-looking women 'cause society gives them certain privileges.

That's how the system works.

I don't think it's really that... I know many boys who are crazy fans of Hrithik Roshan who is undoubtably good-looking.. i think many models can't make it from both the sexes despite looks because of other factors..talent, connections etc. I don't think the audience is insecure, it's a bit absurd..

I think I had the opposite impression...Actresses are said to be amazingly beautiful and so glamourous etc but people don't turn up in the theatres for them...Their fanclubs are only there to discuss their beauty but they don't materialise to watch the movie.. That's why Katrina's most hits have been with already bankable stars and when she went with lesser known actors, they were duds. Nobody cares to go to look at a beautiful woman in a theatre if they can see their photos online...

I get my fill of good looking actors from Hollywood. ☺️

From physical beauty standpoint, on average Indian women are better looking than Indian men. The reality mirrors onscreen as well. 😳

Screen presence and camera should love them. This is what is needed from both male and female actors. Anything else they bring to table is added bonus.

Vijay Bhatt had once talked about myth of beauty by using example of one of the actress who worked in his famous movie "Gunj uthi shehnaiyi". " I have rarely seen women so beautiful in real life. But however I tried to present her on screen, she would not come alive. We tried so many things. It was then I realized that she would not amount to much in Bollywood. Camera simply did not love her."

By that logic, Indian men also prefer white women to Indian women. </font>

Ya and they admit it , women don't and will blame other things
Lol, they don't. Desi men usually prefer lighter skinned girls yeah, but lighter that doesn't mean "white"... I think people need to realise that "light-skinned" has a different definition in every culture/region.
