Education is important, education is a foundation of developing yourself mentally, and how to get along with others the experience of Uni offers so much for that alone it is important.
But education doesn't mean you will make money far from it, nor will it make you street smart for that you need practical experience of applying knowledge. After initial education the idea should be to SKILL yourself these days you see people doing short diploma courses and getting into specialized field of work and on their way to making money without having gone to Uni even.
So yes education is important for experience and developing yourself, but making money is something else

I thought it was the opposite, you need education to make money, get ahead in life but education does not give you 'experience' etc.

I think if you are really eager then you can increase your knowledge by reading different books. Being "graduate" has nothing to do with someone's acting ability ( or any other quality) . What if the person who does not have any degree knows more by reading several books than the other person who has a degree but with just bookish knowledge? "graduation" or "post-graduation" are just stamps of acknowledgement of the knowledge you earned.

And believe me I have seen so many students of higher studies and professors who have of course phd but are so mean. Degree does not define one's quality for anything but true knowledge.

Agree with that part... Some highly educated people are so mean, don't have basic courtesy, some even don't understand basic hygiene
They seem to think it's a license to openly behave with disdain towards others

Sad that SRK can't make the difference with being educated and being cultivated...

Glad he stresses the importances of education so much but he could've worded it differently

When he says "I feel really sorry for the actors who are not graduates", it does look like he is looking down on them... There is no need for you to feel sorry for them SRK if they skipped college by choice to pursue acting... On the other hand If somebody couldn't pursue higher education bcz of financial, social, religious constraints then they deserve sympathy

He says "If you are not a graduate I believe you cannot be an actor? " Wwhhaat?

So all the HW greats from the golden age and all the great actors from BW who came before him, who've accomplished so much and made it easy for actors like him are not actors at all according to SRK bcz most of them are not college graduates
Really?

For me, education is very important. And I agree with SRK that one should have a graduate degree as I believe that it plays an important part in life whether or not the degree is helpful in future. People may consider it just a piece of paper but it takes so much to earn that degree and they cannot understand it.

In many parts of the world, having a degree can get you a stable job, financially secure life. It's why my parents always stressed on education first before you fulfill your hobbies.

I agree with what SRK is trying to put forth. He just shouldn't have denigrated actors who are not graduates. Times have changed. Then, it was fine to get by without having a college degree. It would perhaps have been better for him to say that in todays day & age, life without a degree is worthless. Bill Gates & Zuckerberg, especially Zuck, come to my Uni every year and the most important thing they stress is the importance of networking & getting a full education. I've been to Zuck's talk and never heard him give his own example of dropping out of college as a viable option to pursue.

Education till 12th would suffice IMO. Beyond that, if you do engineering or MBBS, how is it relevant if you want to become an actor? I really appreciate the guts of people like Sushant, who left his engineering in his 3rd year, to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. It doesn't make sense to lose over four years just to gain a piece of paper that says you're a graduate when it doesn't help your acting career one bit.

Besides, if you look at some of the greatest people in this world, a lot of them have either been academic failures or school/college dropouts. So it is ridiculous to suggest that one is worthless without a degree. Education is important, but it is relevant education that is truly important.

Though education is important but not something you should stress out and pulling ur hairs out over and should not be forced upon individuals..IMO basic education is enough and practical knowledge/experience is more imp to survive ...

i know some People who work hard and by heart everything from text books and get good marks in exams but when it comes to practical experience they panic and act as dumb ..

Srk shouldn't be sorry for actors who are not graduates instead he should be sorry for wasting his own kids time when they r not interested in studying further..

Will Suhana Khan also meet the same fate as Tanisha and Esha Deol?

I feel she will end up just like them because Suhana really lacks the looks, glamour and talent! I mean she’s just NOT cut out for the glamour...
