at my place the theatre was housefull for the early morning show...I myself couldn't get tickets and hence had to settle for the seats in the front row...

more or less every show is houseful over here, unbelievable. US loves Aamir.

I m going this sunday and here in our Cinepolis Thane(West) almost all shows r full for tonight till 11.30 pm 😲 and even Sat ,Sun almost 90% seats r booked right from 9.30am show to 11.30pm .. rest 10% shows r kept for on the spot booking ...

I feel the movie will set benchmarks in the days to come .. thats been the trend with Aamir movies .. they always target long run rather than just first day records .. Dangal is no different if I look at the advance booking of even Mon-Tues at my place ..

Dangal Has Good Start Overseas

Dangal has taken a good start in Overseas. Its not a huge start and well short of the numbers of Dilwale last Christmas and Sultan on Eid. The film had an early release as Christmas is falling on Sunday so will be a shortened weekend in many markets. The Christmas period is the most lucrative in Overseas markets as a film like Dilwale which was not appreciatted in all Overseas markets including US / Canada clocked $26.5 million last year. The weekend will see up and down collections and it will take a few days for the real Overseas picture to emerge for the film. The film took a record opening in Australia though again the Christmas period may stop it being a record for the weekend.

The opening day figures for Dangal are below with corresponding figures of Sultan in brackets.

UK - 120k (Sultan 270k)
US / Canada - $785k (Sultan $1.10m) Both two days
Gulf - $700k (Sultan $1.5m)
Australia - A$260k (A$155k)
