We are few days and 1 month shy of 2017. Even if every movie in Dec 2016 is a hit (I am exaggerating), it will not be enough to remove the taste of failure that was 2016. Even if 2016 has given respite to Ranbir and even if the world could finally see Ranveer in Laal Chaddhi, it is still not a good year for Bollywood.
Now it is foregone conclusion that Dangaal will be Dangaal on BO and Bollywood will be opening 2017 with a bang. But what will happen next.
Will it be same as 2016. Will there be more flops than hits. Will the foot falls reduce to nothing. Will the digital app take over now that Czarina Ekta wants to make female Devdas. Will there be another boogey man like Sairat? Will there be enough cash in the country to watch all movies? Will there be third new option called Multimax Single screen or Single Screen Plex- a kind of hybrid of both. And will this be the year when voice of NRI audience be finally heard by someone other than Karan (whom we love dearly)and win some respect. The last one is very dear to my heart.
Every star except Aamir has 1 or 2 releases next year and their status is tied to it. Will their star fade away or will it shine more brightly? Will 2017 BO be pretty much Salman vs Salman? Or will it be something else. Who do you think will win 2017 race and become new BO Office Superstar?
This is a list of better budgeted movies (some are insanely huge budgeted) that are releasing month by month. I may have missed few movies or some dates may have been changed. Be sure to send me so that I can update this list.
Jan - Will SRK finally find that elusive big budget hit that he has been looking for in form of Raees. Or will Kaabil manage to upset his plans.
Feb - Will Rangoon finally be the one - whatever that one is? I am kidding. Will Vishaal finally reach new heights and become new BO king instead of just respected director. Will Rangoon upset everyone's plan. I am sure Kangana is counting on it. Or will Lawyer Akshay say "Objection My honor, Jolly LLB is still in race".
Mar- Will the driest month of March finally score 100 crore victory with Badrinath's Dulhania?Or will Anu's phillauri be next DDLJ?
Apr- Will severely delayed JJ finally find the audience it deserves in form of children? Or will Juggernaut Bahubali 2 crush its dream of becoming Bollywood's answer to Jungle Book?will Sona's noor find man of her dreams and some audience?
May - Which of the two- Ajay's Badshaho or Arjun's half girl friend will win the race? And perhaps 2017 race?
June- Salman will win this month with his Chinese co-star. But what about Akshay's Toilet prem and Rabta? Will they make through? Will they be able to survive this bilingual Block buster.
July - Will Munna Michael dance its way to BO and make history. And will Tiger finally grow some mustache and look like an adult. I love Tiger. He is like a cute puppy in my eyes.
Aug - Will Aug prove to be as successful to Akki as 2016 was. Will Crack be a crackastic victory for him? Or will Imitiaz Ali's Ring run rings around it?
Sep - Varun has herculean task of reviving Salman's super hit Judwa. Will he have enough energy to run to the top of building when lifts are not working (word play on song " Uchi hai building, lift teri bandh" for those not in know). He will have to dance, fight and romance plenty that is for sure. Twice the amount actually. So will it be twice the amount of hit.
Oct- Diwali will see Ajay's Golmaal 2 and Robot 2. Will Golmaal sequel laugh itself to banks or will it be hijacked by Robot sequel and its stars - Akki (in weird costume) and one and only Thalaiva Rajni.
Nov- Big budgeted Padmavati will either float and survive or will crash and sink taking with it few production houses and some dreams. Which will it be then? It all depends on how SLB manages to steer this titanic size budgeted movie.
Dec- The question of the year is "Will Salman have biggest ATBB" in form of Tiger who is zinda along with villainess Kat. Or will BO king Hirani decide to release Dutt and duke it out with BO tiger. This will be clash to remember for some weird reason which has nothing to do with acting or BO. Just kidding. I don't want this clash to ever happen. Read my lips. NEVER.
Hirani, I warn you. I am very handy with magic. I learnt it all by watching Harry potter movies and reading few books. Both the movies are on my to-watch list. I heart them both. So there repeat after me. No clash.
Finally is it going to be year of modestly budgeted, big hearted movie that will make audience take notice. Will the said movie upset all the calculation and become the undisputed champion of 2017. There are so many glorious choices to choose from in 2017.
