Nothing wrong in celebrity taking stand.

I am totally against the mocking of legends in these shit movies.

@Bold: Can her opinion can be stated in a different way? Yes. But are there people out there who say things exactly like she would or even worse? Yes. So was Karan wrong in showing one of such people? No.

Well thats your opinion and I respect it...many things said about Amitabh are true, not all gossip can be made up...the latest news about him not supporting Ash for ADHM...he really shoild've tweeted something if he can do that for his son and his daughter's ramp...but beti beti hai aur bahu toh bahu hi hai...
PS: Don't think I am hating on the movie or something, I was one of those who was dying to watch the movie after watching Ash-Ranbir in the teaser

I should've specified, my bad...the character in the movie.
Ab aaj agar u or me say what Alizeh said in the movie no one cares, but its a different case with celebrities esp actors...it could be the actor or the character he/she plays.

Hmm, if you ask me, I will say that movie is reflection of life or world outside(although movies are very unrealistic, but still! :p ) .. I've heard my cousins say worse things, and that was said in that movie by a character..

I get what you are saying that movies also should have some care/regard/responsibility in showing what they do.. but there are many things that can be condemned in a movie if we keep thinking like this you know..

A sensitive soul will tomorrow say that beating up bad guys will encourage kids to emulate the heros.. kids do - it's infact, an issue in almost every other house. I do not want to digress, it's an example. Now one could say that heros needn't beat up, and like good citizen go to the police station and report.

So, basically, it's an opinion by a character, who is playing a common girl. Secondly, Ranbir's character also answers back saying Mohd. Rafi's voice has dard/feel in it(or so i heard, you should tell me if you watched it?). And, thirdly, there was even a Mohd. Rafi song played in the movie (it's deleted song - An Evening in Paris), although it's deleted for reasons I am unaware of, they're both seen enjoying it.. So, if we speak about movie defaming Mohd Rafi with that dialogue, I dont see any strength in that argument.

What I want to understand, from you, is that do yu think this sort of dialogue causes any practical harm or if it influences people to shun Mohd. Rafi? or is it purely hurting sentiments?

If it's the matter of last question, IDK, I am split too - seeing the reaction - I do feel "bah, they shouldn't have put in that dialogue" , sometimes I also feel that if we go on talking about hurting sentiments, what about plethora of things shown in movies that people could start feeling bad about??

As much a movie has social responsibility, that much should viewers also have tolerance for that which they find distasteful.

This is just my POV, I too don't want to argue 😆 Lets discuss like we're in a healthy democracy 😛

Sorry for the long post.. hope I didn't confuse you?😕

this was said by a fictional character...matter is being blown out of proportion...if a stand has to be taken better take on some real serious and urgent issues

I was planning on watching the movie but when I heard about this statement, I decided not to...even tho I really wanted to watch Ash and Ranbir on screen...
I did see the song on YouTube.
True Alizeh is a common girl...but this common girl's opinion will be seen and heard by many...and its made by an actor in a movie but u know what kind of influence Bollywood has on Indians.
People talk about us been intolerant but why make such statements in the first place? If u push it people will snap...I'd have the same reaction if Kishore Da or Lata Mangeshkar or any legend was involved...I did react in a similar way when I saw the Lataji parody in Mirchi Music Awards but decided to stay mum..
And initially even I was like rehne do kya bol sakte hai but another part of me felt that aaj agar Raj Kapoor ka mazaak udhaya jaata toh would Rishi Kapoor or any member of the Kapoor fam stay quiet?
I prefer having a normal discussion too, its healthier and theres no negativity :)
PS they aren't degrading Rafi Sahab, but refrain from making such statements...film makers do have certain responsibilities too, they can't just expect the audience to ignore everything

I guess I cannot see from your POV fully because, I was laughing a lot and enjoyed the Lata ji parody 😛 ..although, I am her very huge fan :((
Okay, so bottomline is, it hurts some people. I guess that ends the discussion then :)

Why do celebs have to take a stand for anything? Why does anyone have to take a stand for anything at all actually?

I believe in eating pizza everyday! If I take a stand for it, does that mean every single person has to follow suit? I thought we were part of a younger generation that is more mature; opinionated sure, but open-minded. The fact that people on the Internet, or otherwise cannot tolerate a difference of opinions makes me realize how wrong I am. Sonu Nigam's statement was absolute bull crap. So it's okay to mock Himesh Reshamiya's nasal tone, and Farhan Akhtar's deep voice on screen, but not someone else's? What, those aren't people with feelings? They aren't hard-working talented artists? HR may be the greatest singer ever for some person in some part of the world. What if he/she gets offended?

Gosh, people truly are offended by ANYTHING and everything nowadays. Even opposing opinions of fictional strangers on screen. It's ridiculous.

@bold I am with you on this..my thoughts exactly.

And about the "common man can say anything but celebs can't...what is wrong even if a celeb says "I don't like his/her singing. I find it is like crying." with decency and without abusing just expressing his/her opinion? He/she might be ignorant but that is a totally different thing.

I am not considering "Alizeh" here as it is just a "fictional character" for me which represents "common people ignorant of music".

I find no problem in fans of Rafiji taking stand against the dialogue because like the character in the movie and everyone else in the world they have all the right to do so. But my problem is that the way it is being put "no one can talk about or have negative opinion about Rafiji's singing as he is considered to be legend"

Someone being legend or not is NOT a universal truth.

This argument can go on and on...

Celeb law of foolery:
They have no religion, no boundaries, no nationality.

New law effective after ADHM release:
they can't be fan, they don't have to take stand, they are immortal.
Table fan think ceiling fan are on ceiling so they don't need to take stand. 😆
