What I see here is that he didn't allow Mita Vashisht to complete what she was saying (as usual) and tried to shout her down. When she reacted to his 'screeching', he adopted a higher moral ground by pitching it as a battle between arrogant Bollywood liberal and a patriotic army man.

He is preying on public emotions to garner higher TRPs for his show. How hypocritical to say BW people use the army's image to sell their product when he is doing the exact same thing.
He will be laughing his way to the bank while all of us get angry over this issue.

Of course, the show's TRPs are a tribute to the lack of critical thinking in our country. People are driven by jingoism and think that supporting Goswami is some sort of vote in favour of nationalism.

Back in 2011, the debates used to be very very good. Aruna Shaunbag's case which led to the discussion of euthanasia was moderated by Arnab to perfection back then. I used to say that this man has balls to say anything to anyone but now guess he feels since that is his USP then he should do only that.😆 I don't watch Newshour unless my fav comedians make it there coz damn, they always add some fun element😆 So nowadays, Arnab just thrusts his opinion down everybody's throat and if you are against that then good luck coz there is barely a chance of you getting to speak and even if you did then he'll make it personal plus he'll twist your words and say sth complete opposite of what you meant.

I stopped watching his show way back. He has this annoying way of demeaning everyone who has an opinion difference with him.

And coming to Meeta-I salute you. She actually said things which had to be said way back. I salute you for having had the courage to put reality in perspective.

and with all due respect how did you reach the conclusion that people aren't effected by farmer suicide and the other issues that you mentioned?
we ARE raising voices in the respective topics.
you think funding is not required. we think they do. how did death is inevitable and bhagavat gita come into picture?
everyday a death of someone from forces is reported and we should be discussing their perks and paychecks?

THIS topic was about army personnel. was there ANY need to bring in the comparison?

Farmers are dying. hey so it is ok to not feel outraged and feel any need to do something for the army.

reminds of me of the famous Palestine rant.
why is the world outraging our LGBT massacre and deaths in France. think about Palestine.

Are you seriously saying such stuff to defend the death of a martyr? I've no words.

Listen, it might not be a big deal for you. But for me and for some people, it is a HUGE deal that these army men are fighting at the borders and saving our lives. Imagine if those people also would want to lead a happy and normal life like us, there would be no one left to guard our country. God alone knows what would happened then. Its easier said that we would sacrifice our lives and crap but honestly we are here typing in AC halls and enjoying all kinds of luxury while our soldiers are fighting in extreme circumstances. It takes will, hardwork, courage, dedication and lot of mental strength to do what these people in forces are doing. I hope you respect our sentiments and let this discussion end here.

Can we stop discussing Army men's pay anywhere in the world? Not just in our country but everywhere it's a highly respectable job which needs courage. Stop demeaning everything.

Lol Newshour gives me a headache, so I steer clear of it.

It so happens that his opinions these days align with the majority's opinion, so his show is working. That's not the point of journalism though. Journalism is supposed to bring hard truths to the public, even if those truths are a difficult pill to swallow.

He does make it personal. There is only one viewpoint on his show- Arnab's. I guess people like their news like their soap operas these days- high decibel, jingoistic and preachy. 😆

^No other news channel has debates as good as Times Now when it comes to panelists thus the effect. Sadly, journalism in India is so poor. Some channels are sensationalist and some are funded by parties so are very biased.

BTW Kanan Gill, comedian managed to shush Arnab in Tanmay's debate. That's probably my the most fav moment of Newshour ever😆

Pakistan has Zahid Hamid as well who has threatened to put Pakistan flag in Indian capital. lol.

Patriotism is last refuge of a scoundrel. At times of war, the insecure, the weak want a voice to show them as strong and powerful and Arnab and Zahid hamid are those voices.

If it was real war I bet these people will p... in their pants.
