Film is about Muslim bootleggers set in a Muslim ghetto in 80's Gujarat. They basically said they needed someone who looked Muslim and she had the right look, mannerisms, and body language needed. They can't have signed her for her acting talent because she has none. 😕😆They had also auditioned/tried to audition other Paki actors like Sanam Saeed. I think Mahira has a very small part anyways -- she was hardly shooting. Of course, we can only know for sure after the movie comes out if the reason makes sense. But yes, I do think Indian actors could also easily play the part as of now.

Thanks TD. I never get the 'looks Muslim' or 'looks Hindu' crap. A good actor can look anything he/she wants to look like.

She has none?? Haha!! 😆 I agree she is average. I watched a couple of eppies of that incestuous show 'Humsafar' and found her below average if not worse. Any Indian girl could've played that part.

Why was Mahira cast? She can't act, poor dialogue delivery. It's a small part. Anybody could've done it.

Most of the Pakistani shows are regressive. Women get betrothed when they're young and then they've to accept their fate. In a few, Men marry a girl of his choice and then marries again for his mom's choice. Keeps both in the dark and mommy's choice always turns out to be bechari, sanskari. Other one the sleeveless wearing evil. And the cousin marriage . Yes, it's cultural still doesn't make it right. The only good thing is it gets over fast. Kankar was one of the good ones.

Cousin marriages are allowed in Islam, so how does it become incestuous? It happens in India as well.

Incest happens when one marries a relation- father/mother/real sibling/aunt/uncle etc with whom any sort of such a relationship is not vaild/haraam.

Yeah exactly...there's plenty of very talented actresses in the parallel cinema world like Huma, Radhika, etc that could have fit in. I think the part is too small for someone like Vidya.

She is very average honestly. 😆 There's much better talent in Pakistan. She is also nowhere near as beautiful as people say (at least IMHO -- beauty anyways lies in the eyes of the beholder).

ZGH was one of the good ones. I liked Maat too. Story of two sisters. Other than that I've given up most shows midway coz of the regressive crap, too much rona dhona and like you said...too much accepting of their fate/kismet. Daam was kinda okayish. Haven't watched Kankar.

Yeah, I do like that they get over fast. No unnecessary dragging of storyline and scenes and the dialogues are usually awesome. Can never get on board with cousin marriages. Does not sit well with me.

That is my opinion about it. Might happen anywhere in the world. That's just how I see it.
