I really find it annoying when people are really making stuff out of thier ass, whether it involves city, country or anything. Criticism even if correct but the tone of the criticism is mocking, does not feel good.
One thing I really hate is people thinking northeast girls are easy or everyone here knows fashion. I remember once an idiot from West Bengal asked me, do people in Nagaland keep "head" in thier home, and I was like, yeh they also chop balls of idiots like you.
Also when chatting with abroad people, they tend to ask stuffs like, "what you call Y in Indian" it is annoying.

Nice topic! Well my knee jerk reaction is always one of anger! 😆 Even if I try to hide it to the other person or not admit, inside I am fuming. 😛 But once I can begin to consider their viewpoint rationally, I try and see if what are saying is true or not. I guess the way of putting your point across also matters a lot, if people intentionally try to demean my country/city of origin (even if what they are saying is true in some way), I won't tolerate it.

It's a funny thing actually, we always criticise our country/city of origin but when others do it, we get mad. 🤣 Or at least I do! 😛

If they only try to condemn my country and then compare their country saying that it's perfect, I too get angry and either just leave the discussion or make them aware of the flaws that exist in their own country. No country is perfect but I'm sad that India has far too many problems compared to other countries. The corruption and population is probably the second highest in the world.

Jin aunties logo ko parents ne ladka foreign mein job karta hai bolke shaadi karwa diye thay bahut saare dahej dekar, iss type ke aunties jyada criticize karti hain India and Indians ko. Aur jo ladka gaon dehat se jaise taise engineering college jaate hain aur jinki poori padhai likhai government scholarship pe hoti hain, pad jaise hi IT companies usse hire karke foreign le jaate hain woh launda India and Indians ko sabse jyada criticize karta hain !

It's more like..inside the house a mother can point out mistakes of her kids, scold them , explain to them whatever..BUT outside the house she is fiercely protective of her kids and nobody can dare say a word against them in front of her..
I will be protective ..no matter what

I have a problem with the society we live in. The thoughts, the perceptions which are passed on from generations, some real life experiences is doing the talking right now. I have every right to criticize my country. Kya ukhad lega koi. I clearly know whAt I don't like about my country but then which country does not have faults. USA does not have many things in the name of culture. Although the German settlers have made a world of difference. India has few cultural barriers that certainly don't go down well with me. I'm proud of our rich cultural heritage. I'm proud I belong to the Aryan race which make us stand out with our head held supremely high in the world for 'many many' reasons. But I do have problems with few things. Kya ukhad loge? Like someone on this forum quoted 'your perception of me is a reflection of you' is all I have to say.
As far as non Indians are concerned, they should meddle with their own business and their country that peeking into their neighbors. Indians are enough.

I'm fine with critism like if somebody is mocking India for rapes n all then I'm fine with it as I know we have to get rid of this so we have to be more n more vocal.
But if some people support Bharat tere tukde honge gang n intolerance gang n try to show India as the most backwad n dangerous country for their own selfish reasons then I feel extremely bad.
I don't know how people can accept people like who is saying Bharat tere tukde honge n Hindustan Murdabad.its pathetic

I am definitely very very patriotic & it only increases when I go abroad/meet foreigners. A few of my relatives married into the family are foreigners & it's so interesting to see their perceptions/outlook on our country & try to introduce them to the more positive aspects of our culture/country/city!! When they do state certain negative opinions it does role my blood until I put myself in their shoes & see what they see-- Many times it isn't hard & provides a more unbiased opinion. Then begins the re-education, LOL, but I've noticed a lot of foreigners become enchanted with India & all it has to offer, but what annoys the f**k out of me is when One travels abroad & the many exclamations of how we "don't sound Indian," etc.. Makes me angry, so engines irrationally so when the intent isn't negative.

Other peeves are when cousins etc keep commenting on the state of India negatively, I understand they're not Indian per se, but their culture & heritage is but for most foreigners of Indian origin, assimilation + inherited culture is a very difficult balance to make.
