How OK are you with portrayal of religious figures on TV/Cinema?

So I was reading about Mammas boy - a modern day reboot of Mahabharat and clearly it is going to ruffle some feathers along the way and in my opinion, rightly so.
I feel like freedom comes with a price and this is why some religions strictly do not allow any kind of portrayal because some people will push their luck with it. When you let people be sometimes they push the boundaries in the name of freedom of speech. My question is are you OK to have someone play religious figures for commercial gain, for example this Mahabharat reboot, or Shivaay or how Ekta Kapoor takes things for granted and involves religious angles into her shows. I could think of many movies where some actor or actress potrayed a certain figure although in their personal life they are tainted and tarnished.

I dont understand what these directors get by making such stupid movies and plays that will hurt the sentiments of people. How is it funny to anyone is beyond me. Is it time Indian film industry including the TV industry do away with any religious portrayal of any characters and figures?

I am totally against it.

Funny part is that freedom of expression is reserved for one particular religion, these people dont have guts to shoe their freedom of expression to other religions.

Well the best way to go about is to put an end to it. Only the people have the power to voice their opinion and make it a no go area. It only happens because it is allowed to fester by people like Ekta Kapoor and these 2 rupees comedians who come up with stupid plays thinking its funny and will get them some cheap laughs. Religion is always a hot issue and like a can of worms should be left undisturbed. The best way is to have a total blanket ban. You cant have some, and not allow others or it wont work. There should be no potryals on camera, through art, through voice.

Yes, I am more than okay with it.

I feel like we should build a culture where religion is discussed and dissected.

Not everyone will be okay with the kind of things said and depicted in Mama's Boys , but the Mahabharat itself encourages discussion, so a satirical take on it doesn't offend me.

Easier said then done. In perfect world this would be the best option but it isnt something that can be easily policed. Hence although it sucks for others but the best way to go about is to have no room for any such themes. Period.

Regarding double standards, I think we should be proud that Hinduism is liberal enough to allow such discourse, because the philosophies at the core of Hinduism allow for free speech and action.
