I agree but a lot of my friends like her so usually I just keep my mouth shut when she is brought up to avoid any conflicts. Never liked Deepika as an actress. As a person yes, but not as an actress. But some people like her and are fans of her and that is fine with me.

No she has gotten as much success as she deserves. Kangana and PC are more overrated with their NAs for films like Fashion and Queen which were half decent but not great.

why do people jump into judging bandwagon when their so called fav actress why is pc, vidya, kangana brought into here...can't separate topics be discussed on them? Deepika is definitely overrated and that's mainly because as an actress she sucks. she has basically made every dime out of a profession she knows nothing about. and PIKU isn't an oscar worthy performance either I have seen the film myself. It was quite a subtle show and like someone said she is easily replaceable. Her success has nothing to do with her skills. She definitely needs a crash course. and please let's not take about critics here. Critics here take every single film good bad decent worse from the eyes of an English film and dissect according to their own stupid skills. no one takes them seriously when it comes to success overall. Deepika is an overrated show and always be !

Spot on ! Tamasha was itself a bad film. no one even remembers the film neither Ranbir's great performance forget Deepika. the movie was trash to say all along and it did nothing to any of their careers

Amen! I watched Piku and still don't know what's so amazingly special about her performance there. 😕 anyone can play that role. ANYONE.

What is the definition of over rated?

Over rated on India Forums or over rated by media and the industry?

Amongst all her contemporaries, Deepika has been judged most fairly, in my opinion, at least by the media and critics. No where has she been declared as the best actress in the industry, just really good, which I think she is. And she has been duly criticised where she has fallen short, like in Bajirao Mastani.

I personally thought she was exemplary in both Piku and Tamasha. Those who think her performance in Piku was over-rated probably think so because it was a very realistic character that she portrayed and didn't require any dramatics, which is often mistaken for good acting. Sometimes, its far tougher portraying a character like Piku than something larger than life. Its easy to state that anyone can play a certain character, but unless you actually see another actor do that role, its not fair to judge the actor who has done that role already!

That's just my two bits!

I never liked DP's acting nor her looks...She was a good dancer for me and that's it. In Piku, there was nothing extra ordinary about her performance as her character had nothing to do except to look after her dad's constipation. It was all about AB and he was the best thing about Piku and then comes Irfan. In Ramleela, she did well but still sometimes she was OTT while she was telling her bhabi about her love for Ram. She ruined Bajirao for me and her dialogue in the trailer itself showed how badly she acted. She was again decent in Tamasha and YJHD but she needs to improve a lot. She's not a beauty but she looks best in western outfits.

wow never in my thoughts this topic would come this long 😆 that's totally unexpected. To someone who mentioned that the topic was made to seek attention or make it ATBB something type. would like to tell them that if you are regular to this forum, you would barely see me here. so attention part is ruled out. i myself never thought people would bring it to another level 😆 the only thing I said that she can't act. its something quite simple and I gave my validity to prove it. right or wrong i don't know. she is a great 'heroine' read again 'heroine' material which bollywood is known for but when it comes to acting. she's forgettable and passe.
that's all...
