Rustom First Week Box Office Collections
Akshay Kumar's Rustom is all set to emerge a Super Hit' at the domestic box office, as the film was outstanding on the partial holiday for Raksha Bandhan. The film has collected Rs 8.62 crore on Thursday, taking its first week total above the 90 crore mark.
Rustom is the highest ever first week total for a film starring Akshay Kumar in the lead. The film will cross the 100 crore mark by the end of its second weekend (outside chance of doing so tomorrow itself) and also become the third consecutive 100 crore grosser for the superstar. It's a record that no other actor in the industry has achieved.
Looking at the strong hold of Rustom on 2nd Friday, the film could challenge the lifetime business of films like Airlift and Rowdy Rathore to become the highest ever grosser for Akshay.
The new release this week - Happy Bhaag Jayegi - has opened poorly and Rustom is running at 2-3 times the occupancy at multiplexes as compared to the new release. Some shows in metro cities were houseful even on the 8th day.
