Rumours were rife that Pakistani hottie Fawad Afzal Khan has bagged a role opposite Deepika Padukone in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next dream project, Padmavati. But we have learnt exclusively that he hasn't, nor was he ever approached for it.

Fawad, who'll next be seen in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, was reported to play Rani Padmavati's husband, King Rattansen of Chittor. But when we put our sources to work, we learnt that there's no truth to this buzz. "Fawad has not been cast for the role. He wasn't even approached for it. As of now, he is working on Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, where his role has been extended. After that, he is in talks for two Dharma films " one with Katrina Kaif and another, a royal love story. He also has in hand a high-end Pakistani soap opera, on the lines of a Netflix series," says a source.

There were also reports of Fawad being a part of the Salman Khan-starrer Jugal Bandi, but no official confirmation has come on either Salman's or Fawad's part for this.

The Khoobsurat star has a chock-a-block schedule. He juggles professional commitments with philanthropic, work which makes him constantly travel between India, New York, London and Pakistan. We hear, he, being diabetic, has to be extra careful about his health, and hence can only work on two-three projects at a time. Therefore, there is no question of him taking up Padmavati when his hands are already full.

We don't know whether to be happy or sad about this, though. While we all want him to be careful about his health, we would have loved to watch him and Deepika in a film together. After all, we just got a little preview of what a good-looking pair they make when they burnt up the ramp for Manish Malhotra at the Indian Couture Week last week.

Guess we'll have to wait a while for the two to burn up the screen.

Fawad Will Not Be Deepika's On-Screen Husband!

Though Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are zeroed in to play Rani Padmavati and her obsessed lover in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie Padmavati, the role of Deepika's husband Raja Rawal Ratan Singh in the movie is still open. However, it seems that there are not many takers for this role, which is lengthy but not very powerful, as per the story.

For some time now, there has been a buzz that Fawad Khan has been approached for the role. However, a source close to Fawad denied the news completely. The source mentioned, "Fawad was NEVER approached for Padmavati and that's a fact. The news of him doing or rejecting the film are just rumours."

Well, there. So who do you predict will finally end us as Raja Ratan Singh? Any guesses?

This film and this role every fan group is going - Nahin nahin...aapka favorite and I wish him luck. Unlike other two hero films SLB's PR and Ranveer's PR projected it as an anti hero film with him being lead and anyone else as second lead. Given that SLB wants an Alister for his films that was a huge mistake made at the outset. Now a brave actor will go for this role or a TV actor.

PS: I still think they must go for Abhishek or maybe Harshwwardhan Rane.

You're envisioning a hatta katta pehelwaan types😆...yeah, Fawad ain't never gonna be a pehelwaan types...Yes, his accent is cute in it's own way but it's pretty easy to tell that it's not an Indian accent...we apply suspension of disbelief because he acts so well in his roles otherwise.

Like you said, the shudh Hindi diction would be important for a historical role to atleast provide a basis of believability.

The only one of the the three proposed in the cast right now who has the ability to transform physically into the required role is Ranveer...he will manage to work on his diction too as he demonstrated with BM...but DP and Fawad...I don't think they'll be able to.

This is beyond even the usual authenticity problems in historicals...you have to have atleast a semi-believable Hindi accent.
