Rk is a very gud actor, but I really can't imagine him being a ram or a Bajirao, I can't imagine him putting on the accent or going thru that physical transformation

So I guess in that sense they r both different actors, both very gud in Wat they hav done

Well, true that. But honestly, I have not seen people spontaneously gushing about Ranveers any acting. I thought that would happen with Lootera..but nothing..the reviews did mention appreciation but nothing like the praise that came from aam aadmi for what RAnbir produced in his movies.

In Baajirao, Ram Leela, Dil dhadhakna do, I hv to say I get glimpses of Ranveer the person coming thru...even in the other movies...

Whereas with RanBIr, there is no trace of the guy RanBIr...he discards his persona completely and becomes the character..

Obviously it's the perception too, - I don't claim im right.

But if you're gonna say ranBIr doesn't look the part and can't carry off a Ram or Bajirao, I am gonna deflect the question right back and you and say, can you imagine Ranveer with long hair and doing a Rockstar?

Or hv the same deadly understated Impact Ranbir had as his character in Raajneeti? The way Ranbir enacted the role was exceptional.

But, I will myself admit, Ranveers role in Lootera against ANY ROLE RanBIr has performed so far...does not come up to par. I saw Bajiraos trailors, so hv had glimpses of Ranveers acting as a warrior...it did NOT give me goosebumps, the way RanBIr so acting has done in many a film, his Barfi act, his Tamasha act..oh my goodness, the intensity of some scenes without going one millimeter overboard, RanBIr for me is the God of Acting. Hollywood or Bollywood.

I can watch Matargashti 100 times without getting bored, just watching all his nuances while doing that song.

@Bold: Do you mean to say RS's Lootera is better than RK's career best roles?

I think RS and RK are acting equals, it's just that one is more suited than the other to play certain kind of roles. Do you think Irrfan Khan could have pulled off Barfi? I don't think so.

For me, it would be a much more better comparison if it was Lootera vs Barfi...Ranveer definitely would have the edge there

-----

I again disagree. It was Sonakshi in Lootera who got all the accolades. And Ranveer got a side mention. Whereas in Barfi, Ranbir was up against Pee Cee in an equally hatke role and she is a National award winning actress..but it was Ranbir all the way in everyone's minds.

Mind you, in Raajneeti, Ranbir was NOT the pivotal character..but he walked away with all the acclaim.

No no. I hold Lootera as a benchmark for Ranveer because till then he only did loud he man type roles..in Lootera, he had to re modulate his voice and body language...become someone who he clearly is not and he did a fab job.

Ranveer was good but Sonalshi was better and stole the show in Lootera.

If we start talking about Irrfan we will hv to pull in Nawazuddin and nana Patekar and Nasseruddin shah and all..clearly they are Not in the running for same roles, yes?

My point exactly. It was a terrific film with terrific performances but sonakshi impacted me more in Lootera.

Bajirao has indeed been Ranveer's landmark film and a life changing one. Its one that made me a huge fan of his and in my review itself I singled him out to be the best thing of whole experience (Along with KasiBai). The physical and emotional transformation he underwent for this film showed on screen and he was exceptional!
But the SLB elements along with over dramtiisation made it fall par below

And I am no fan of Ranbir to be honest BUT Barfi was another level of finesse! He proved with that performance that he is in same league as the top guns when it comes to acting skills. The whole film is filled with so many memorable scenes that leaves a lasting impact and along with that his underrated chemistry with Jhilmil, Shruti - ONE OF the BEST PERFORMANCE in last DECADE!

Ranbir as Barfi = one of the best performances among male actors of all time. Pitch perfect, cemented by a very hard role to support it.

Ranveer in Bajirao = not even the best performance in the movie itself (that accolade goes to PC), nor his own best performance in 2015 (much more control in his work on DDD)...and surely not the best male performance of 2015. Why? He hammed and went OTT in a whole bunch of scenes, especially the ones after the climax/in the second half. SLB is surely to blame for a lot of that because it's apparent he thinks the more one screams, cries and even assumes outright lunacy, the better the emotion is conveyed.

A more balanced and actually difficult choice would be between Bittoo (BBB) vs. Sid (WUS)...both slice of life movies with generally 'careless, immature' characters as protagonists. That is the only movie in which Ranveer even comes close or equal to Ranbir as an actor. Otherwise, Ranbir's nuance and control as an actor...too superior, even to his seniors.

As an aside, overtime I've actually become of the opinion that the only people so desperate to pitch/prove RS as RK's equal or more do so in desire to entertain some competition for RK...who, unfortunately or fortunately, is a gifted actor, many cuts above the rest.
