A better way to look at it is how each will fare in the other role...And here I thinkRanveer will score because he would have done Ranbir's role in Barfi with equal brilliance, but I cannot even imagine anyone else in Ranveer's Bajirao...he simply owned it!

I disagree about PC stealing the show from Ranveer in BM. The entire time while watching the movie, I just wanted to see Ranveer in every frame. He owned every single frame like a boss. He breathed life into the film. Though PC undoubtedly was amazing, still it was a Ranveer 's show out and out. You simply can't take your eyes off the guy.

ETA: I don't quite agree with these hypothetical scenarios either. We never know how a character would he panned out until and unless you see them unfold on screen. Especially when it's about two talented actors.

But i agree to the fact that PC was the highest point of barfi
Jhilmil for me is THE most iconic female character in bollywood along with Rani in Black

Well, true that. But honestly, I have not seen people spontaneously gushing about Ranveers any acting. I thought that would happen with Lootera..but nothing..the reviews did mention appreciation but nothing like the praise that came from aam aadmi for what RAnbir produced in his movies.

In Baajirao, Ram Leela, Dil dhadhakna do, I hv to say I get glimpses of Ranveer the person coming thru...even in the other movies...

Whereas with RanBIr, there is no trace of the guy RanBIr...he discards his persona completely and becomes the character..

Obviously it's the perception too, - I don't claim im right.

But if you're gonna say ranBIr doesn't look the part and can't carry off a Ram or Bajirao, I am gonna deflect the question right back and you and say, can you imagine Ranveer with long hair and doing a Rockstar?

Or hv the same deadly understated Impact Ranbir had as his character in Raajneeti? The way Ranbir enacted the role was exceptional.

Honestly, I can imagine Ranveer doing a Rockstar and rajneeti, I'm not saying whether he wud do it the same as Ranbir, but I do think he can do it

He played understated in Lootera, so I can imagine rs doing such roles

But I honestly can't see rk playing the rustic cheeky and loud ram

It also has to do with the physical aspect, rs has a look that can be moulded, but rk fits into certain types of looks

Rs is being rumored to be doing Zoyas next based on a rapper, now rs can also rap, that's why Zoya seems to be choosing him for the role

So both hav features that can add to a role, I think both hav done the roles that they hav done perfectly, and I don't think anyone cud do those roles better

In Barfi, I personally think three of them were equally good. And yeah, I'm including Illeana as well. In that movie, all the actors come together so perfectly well and that's why as an experience, I would any day rate Barfi higher than BM. Without many heavy dialogues, each and every character makes you feel immensely happy and gloomy all at the same time. As already posted here, the heartbroken after proposal scene of Barfi breaks my heart every time and the test of friendship scene between PC and Barfi warms my heart every time. 😳

Ranveer was phenomenal sure. I agree. Though my problem is with how the character pans out.

But I just loved PC's Marathi diction so much. I wanted to see her more.

I understand your POV. Still I liked PC more. Let's just agree to disagree. 😃

Well, I never imagined a very young Ranbir as stealing the thunder from under veterans Manoj Bajpai, Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar, Arjun Rampal and the rest in a film. Raajneeti did just that. He didn't hv to tower over others, hold a sword, or wave a gun , shout some heavy duty dialogue to appear the absolutely ruthless when needed character he played in Raajneeti. His body language, his restraint, the inflections he used when delivering his dialogues, and the look in his eyes...his character screamed sinister. That is the mark of a great actor, one with talent born, not acquired.

That Ranveer already HAD the physical appearance to do his warrior role in Baajirao is actually minus points when u compare the rake, playboy, suave , metropolitan image Ranbir had, going into doing the sweet, small town hill station, motherless, mute boy in Barfi.

Don't you agree?

I agree about it, though. As much as I think that Rajneeti was a bleh movie, Ranbir was fabulous in it. Most of his actions are conveyed through his body language and he played that cold detached and scary part of his charecter rather well. Rocket Singh, once again is one hell of an underrated performance. The scenes of his first day in office and the one where his boss fires him left, right and center, Rabbit did a tremendous job over there. This one movie is definitely an underrated gem.

@kaapi - yes ranbir was the high point but pc was the highest point for me because i dont know whether she had any refrrence point for her acting..ranbir had few..so felt she was soo original..so endearing
Through out the movie i was waiting for scenes..yes Illena was pretty good too..anurag basu is a hard taskmaster

Coming to rocket singh..its one really underrated movie and ranbirs best for me..the scene where he threw back the rocket to his collegues were was the best scene for me
😳

Yep, I agree about the character shaping part. Towards the end, it gets pretty disappointing over how things take a Devdas-ish turn. Blaming Bhansali for that OTT drama. 😆

I loved PC in BM too. She lit up the scenes every time she was in them. 😳. It's just that am a bit biased towards Ranveer over how he carried the entire movie on his shoulders. 😆

But yeah, we can agree to disagree. 😆

She must have watched videos of Kim Peake and Dustin Hoffman's Rain Man. Also, she once mentioned in an interview about interacting with aspies and understanding their body language at length to prepare for the role.

I loved RK in Rocket Singh. It's underrated!
