Deepika Padukone was the front runner for Kabir Khan's next film starring Salman Khan. Sources close to the project had revealed that the actress was keen to work with Salman and was thrilled at being offered a role in this film. However, Deepika felt that there was not much substance in the character and insisted that Kabir ensure she had a meaty role to play. On this one condition, Deepika seemed to have agreed to work on this mega project. However, source close to the film now reveals that the actress is no longer a part of the movie.

We were the first ones to tell you that Deepika Padukone might finally work with Salman Khan in his next film titled Tubelight. Kabir Khan's this film is a period drama set across the Indo-China border. There was strong buzz that Deepika had said YES to the project and her dream of working with Salman had finally manifested into reality. However, there is a twist to this drama.

A source updates us that there is a slight change and Dippy might not make it to the final cast. The reason ? Well, the plot demands the girl to be of Chinese origin! Yes, it seems that Deepika will be replaced in the film by an actress who will be selected from several rounds of auditions. The source says, "Deepika has realised that she doesn't have much scope in this film. Her condition was that they increase her role when she comes on board, but Kabir is very strict with his writing and doesn't plan to do any such thing. Hence the makers will go as planned with a girl of Chinese origin."

Tubelight is the story of two brothers, Salman plays one part, while the other role has to be cast. It is a period film and will be shot close to the Indo-China border.
