I was talking more in term of standing and prestige than economics in my first comment.

^ Gangster's music is a rage till date. I donno what prestige or standing you are talking about.

Anyway, by general standards, Gangster is not a B grade film from any angle. Just because two newcomers and few intimate scenes happened to be in it, the film does not become B grade.
Anurag Basu, Pritam are huge names. The plot was not even centred around sex.

Its not B or A that is a problem...but her condescending tone undermining other people's achivements definitely is...And since when is she the 'number 1 heroine' in the Bollywood? She is still a Art house heroine whose main directors are 'B grade' (as per her terminology)...She is like Shabana Azmi of this generation...Power house of acting but only suitable for art house kind of cinema...Why does she think there is anything wrong with being a B grade movie star?

Isn't she still a B-grade actress(in her own terminology )? When did she become a superstar?

I feel the movie was B-grade because it wasn't your usual Bwood movie. It wasn't something in which A-listers would have starred into back in 2006.
Seeing as you're referring to wikipedia, go the "Transition in the 2000" part. The notion of a B-grade movie has evolved.

B grade movies:They are made with medium to low budget with mature content. They are released to less no. of theatres compared to A grade movies. With the debut of Sunny Leone into Bollywood, all her movies, which are in fact B grade movies are getting widely released, mostly because of marketing. The restricted content such as adultery, detail planning of crimes, explicit discussion of mature content can be labeled as B grade movies. The movies like Murder and Shootout at Wadala fall into this category, but they were released as A grade movies in Bollywood. When they were dubbed and released in other languages such as Telugu and Tamil, they will be released as B or C grade movies.

Gangster story or content was by no means B grade either. Please stop it, you are embarrassing yourself.

of course Gangster was a B grade Movie , the movie ran because of its content and not because of the stars
if the movie has top stars or made in a huge budget or has top directors , its A grade , massive production values and top stars

when Gangster was released it was emraan's 2nd or 3rd movie and he was known for his kissing and those kind of movies which was new at that time and people considered that eww and C grade actually, kangana was making her debut and Shiney's 2nd movie...of course it was B grade which made it to the A league later coz of its massive success

when it was released, it was def in the B grade league

as for the interview, I dont understand why is she expected to sugar coat everything, what she said here makes absolute sense

while others who starred with superstars received instant stardom and remain there, while she climbed up to that spot and reached there and she is happy now with the choices she has ...

gosh...some in the forum want her to be perfectly diplomatic and sugar coat everything, what she said is her POV on her growth and her contemporaries...where was she nasty or looking down on anyone

Have to say though Kangana was brilliant in Gangster. It seems ridiculously talented people have ridiculously screwed up minds.
