Can someone please explain how FAN is a niche movie?

I have been reading numerous posts by members here and everywhere on twitter, fb and even by my brother who's a big SRK pankha saying that FAN is a niche film and Mass audience will not like it or won't get head or tail of it

Can someone please bother to explain me how FAN is a niche movie or a masterpiece?

Just because it had no song and not a heroine, so it is a niche?

How was it any different from mass appealing masala movies?

It had fight sequences, chasing sequences, illogical plots, double role, OTT drama, foreign locations a big budget and so on.

I really fail to understand the comparison which SRK fans draw between Swades and Fan 😕 Both the movies are poles apart and Swades was literally a niche movie and was a beautiful movie with SRK shining throughout the movie.

P.S. I am not a troll or a SRK hater just having a genuine doubt.

Niche is hindi word means Down... Fan is going Down from Friday to Sunday & now Monday is also niche than friday 😆

You do know John Lennon was killed by his fan, right? So was Selena, the tejano singer. Fans going crazy and harassing or hurting their idol is not unheard of. There have been celebrities who have had stalker fans. I think one time someone even broke into Brad Pitt's house just to meet him.

Superfans are always a bit unhinged. You can even see how people act on forums as if they're fighting for their own family member and cussing other celebrities and normal people who don't like their favorite.

When a movie does not perform well at the BO, lots of excuses are made up by the fan groups.
Currently its "FAN is a niche film which not many can understand hence it did not perform well at the BO but who cares SRK rules".
If it had indeed broken records it would go something like "FAN is a niche film which not many can understand but still since its SRK and he is such a bomb everyone understood it. MAGICCC!!!"
Since suddenly niche is ones own fans liking his movies and rest not so much then we have been missing out on many NICHE movies 😆

critics-fan is a niche movie

trades-fan is a niche film may not do well at bo

public-fan is a niche movie .its too dark

My god, it's like having to play 'connect the dots.'

Baazigar was new for it's time but it had every element that makes masala movies click. It has superhit music, amazing singing and dancing, two beautiful actresses with love story tracks, etc. It had a tragic but crowd-pleasing ending.

Fan has nothing like that. And funny all this "it's not niche!!!" stuff is coming from people who never even saw the movie and just want to laugh at the box office.

So the lead star himself said it's niche (and he said it long before box office collections came out). So did critics. So did your brother. So did many people on this forum.

And yet according to you, no public is saying it's niche. 😆 Who are these people then? Ghosts?

Which public would this be? Did you go out and survey people on the streets?

It's not your usual mainstream bwood movie so it's a niche film in that sense.

A niche market is a market that won't cater to a wide audience... It can look like it doesn't work in the main market but it's in fact very appealing to a segment of the public. Thus it's a niche market.

Since u sound so sincere.

Niche film is when it's a thriller. And a psychological thriller at that.

Thus it's not mass in appeal. A CDI or a Swades has songs, romance ( for the latter) and a thought provoking message attached to it..it is also easier to grasp. Unlike Fan which is meta
