Can someone please explain how FAN is a niche movie?

I have been reading numerous posts by members here and everywhere on twitter, fb and even by my brother who's a big SRK pankha saying that FAN is a niche film and Mass audience will not like it or won't get head or tail of it

It had fight sequences, chasing sequences, illogical plots, double role, OTT drama, foreign locations a big budget and so on.
This is mostly my friends said. I haven't seen yet but those who have seen can answer you better.it has a big budget of 105 CRS.

Even I want to know how is this a niche movie?

CDI was much more niche than Fan coz:

CDI was based on real character, focused on Hockey ( not so popular game in masses) and had SRK in jaded look...

Fan has 2SRKs, one being conventional SRK look. It has OTT and masala plot like Darr . How is it not conventional masala BW movie!!

Fan k samne rnbd is a niche movie.. And if u term as critically acclaimed movie then why its not attracting viewers?why Sunday and Monday figures are worst than Friday figures.

Niche is hindi word means Down... Fan is going Down from Friday to Sunday & now Monday is also niche than friday 😆

It's not your usual mainstream bwood movie so it's a niche film in that sense.

Just because it had no song and not a heroine, so it is a niche?

How was it any different from mass appealing masala movies?

It had fight sequences, chasing sequences, illogical plots, double role, OTT drama, foreign locations a big budget and so on.

I really fail to understand the comparison which SRK fans draw between Swades and Fan😕Both the movies are poles apart and Swades was literally a niche movie and was a beautiful movie with SRK shining throughout the movie.

P.S. I am not a troll or a SRK hater just having a genuine doubt.
