MUMBAI " Several celebrities from the glamour and cricket world including Aamir Khan, Sachin Tendulkar and Hrithik Roshan attended the special screening of Sonam Kapoor-starrer "Neerja" here.


Filmmaker Karan Johar, Subhash Ghai, Sonam Kapoor's father Anil Kapoor, Yuvraj Singh, Sunil Gavaskar, Ayushmann Khurrana and Amit Sadh were among the others who attended the screening Feb. 15.

Both Tendulkar and Singh came with their wives to watch the Ram Madhvani-directed film.

"It is truly a special film. What a brave heart Neerja was, a real hero. I am happy Atul Kasbekar (producer) and his team got together and thought of this film. It is a special film on a special person. People should definitely watch this film," Tendulkar told reporters here last night.

Singh too felt it was a brilliant film and a must-watch.

"It is a very good film. Neerja is a true Indian hero. The film has great performances of Sonam Kapoor, Shabana Azmi. The film reminds us that these kinds of heroes live forever. I am very touched," he added.

Anil Kapoor looked pleased as everyone was praising the film and his daughter's performance in the biopic.

"Some films are inspiring, and this is like that. I liked the script, and even the film is amazing. I am happy everyone is praising Sonam. But the audience reaction is also important," he said.

Saw Sonam's interview with Anupama and loved it to bits. All the people who were giving her flak for those statements she made about Kangana should watch this interview. I still can't understand why she got so much crap for it but good for her for once again speaking from her heart.

Then, I was shooting for PRDP and during that time Ashley, who was doing clothes for Salman Khan, came and asked me about my next project. So I told him about the movie and he went silent. He said that he was meeting these few people who knew her well because she was a model. Then when I was doing research for Battle of Bittora and for that I met a politician and we happened to talk about the school she attended. She told me 'I went to Bombay Scottish' and she told me that Neerja was her classmate. So things were just coming to me. Like Sana, she works for my Sister Rhea Kapoor, her mom was Neerja's best friend. She came to me through Imran and Avantika. She is their cousin. When I was shooting the climax, my Mami called me up and said 'Sonam a friend of mine has come from America and she wants to speak to you'. So I spoke to her. She said 'I am a huge fan of yours and blah blah blah.. What are you shooting now?' I told her about Neerja biopic. She went silent. I asked her why and she told me, 'I was very close to her. I went to Pakistan to get her body' and you won't believe we were shooting the same scene that day. It was the Universe telling us that this story needs to be told. Why is this film being made 30 years later? This will inspire many now. 😲 😲 unbelievable moment's

It's funny how this particular film is being shown to practically everyone in the industry before the release. But not to critics.

There was a screening for critics too! I read a tweet from Komal Nahta. He said his review will be out on the 18th. Hope she got invited :-)

So it seems there have been no screening for the press yet! 😕

Okay! He might have got the date wrong. He reviews on his show every Friday evening.

Hopefully Tomorrow Gulf audience will give review.I always go fdfs for sonam movies 😊 so my review will be up Tomorrow
