Hello.
This is a very reductive picture of JNU that the media mechanism of the government is selectively promoting to further its own agenda.
First of all, JNU is a postgraduate university in Delhi that has all kinds of students. I know people from both the right and the left who have studied at JNU. A lot of JNU students also go on to civil services and administration.
Their education is subsidised as is the case with all public universities in India.
Because of the limited number of places, people have to take an entrance exam and a lot of people simply do not clear the exam to make it to JNU or DU. Incidentally JNU and DU are two separate universities.
Now to the politics of it. As I said, JNU has all sorts of students from all around the country. Some come specifically from these areas of violence and have strong opinions about it. Some have those opinions because of other reasons like ideology. Some students at JNU have always protested for a variety of causes, and whether you agree with them or not,
I would say that they have the right to protest what they oppose.
