I agree...You do have a point...But at least stop making excuses, no?

Dilwale has very bad WOM. People i know everyone saying don't go for this crap fest. Some of them are die hard SRK fans. Completely opposite reaction compared to BM.

Can anyone here go on record and say if there was no ban Dilwale would have been blockbuster?

There was no ban for Dilwale in Mumbai, Delhi/UP and East Punjab and it has under-performed in those circuits. It will not even cross 150 cr in India.

Time for BW to realize Masala movies are not the trend nowadays. Arrow is pointing down for those genre of movies.

Time for SRK to realize his last few movies are not doing well in India except CE. Time for him to introspect. Maybe he should start treating movies like an art and not some business proposal.

No..Not you...I didn't read your posts...I am talking about Mr.SRK! The way he was making the protests as the excuse, its like politicians trying to manipulate the masses...These actors after getting involved in the business, are losing their conscience!

Those are not excuses...its actually happening...the media is reporting it...although not as much...there are members of this forum who had to return without watching because of the protest...and DW being a family movie...naturally families do get scared to go out and watch a movie if there are chances of riots over there...u guys can keep on saying that these are excuses...but the media suggests something else...and not everything can be false.

I have my family in Delhi and Mumbai and they didn't say anything about getting scared or anything...😕..I..Some of them watched and some of them did not, but only on their own choice...The ones who watched, discouraged the ones who did not...I myself discouraged a lot of people from watching it...So where did the protests come in the picture? In fact I know people are making a joke about how SRK and RS and all the Dilwale folks are making an issue of the protests and trying to manipulate the masses into somehow watching the movie...

A member of this forum who lives in Lucknow had to turn back while going to watch the movie. So the protest thing isnt fake. Its corroborated by every trade analyst. Protests stopped from last Sunday so yes protests did impact the first 2 days business. But there were no protests in my city either.

He didnt make an excuse and say 'Oh the film is doing badly due to protests'. He said that due to protest some people couldnt go watch the film...so those who couldnt I hope they go out and watch the film once things calm down.

The effect of negative campaign can be seen in box office collections in different territories. Dilwale has done terrific business in the East and South India where Bajirao Mastani is not even close to competition. The film has earned like a solo release, but these territories are not major contributors to Hindi film business. These are also the places where right wing politics is not in dominance. In Western and Northern India, Bajirao Mastani had initially given stiff competition and eventually took over the business from 4th day onwards. It can't happen that one part of the country likes the content of Dilwale and other part rejects. There are certainly other factors at play. Similarly in overseas,Dilwale is a blockbuster and Bajirao Mastani is nowhere close to competition except in the USA, a country famous for Modi Bhakts. Irrespective of the content of the film, the smear campaign against Dilwale has hurt its box office prospect, losing money in the range of 25-30 Crores in India (I am no Box Office Pundit but just an observer). The lost money of Dilwale has gone to Bajirao Mastani, as counterproductive effect. Though Bajirao Mastani may not do as much business as Dilwale overall, it will beat the latter in India box office (Bajirao Mastani being a higher budgeted film may lose more money despite being a hit). This would be the first time the Baadshah would lose any significant box office (India) battle in his long illustrious career, despite Dilwale being one of his better films in recent years.
.

However, Shah Rukh was not as lucky as popular films are for mass consumption and certain section can be easily influenced. Previously screenings would be stopped to hurt a film star, but it is logistically difficult to execute. Now internet has enabled the mob to battle out in the virtual world. If such endevours succeed, it would be dangerous as criticism and unpopular voices would go silent making the society stagnant, eventually leading to its downfall, as history has repeatedly shown us. We must resist the internet mob as much as the real one to safeguard our beautiful diversity.

To all those saying that DW didnt succeed because its crappy, ONE QUESTION...dont crappy movies become superhits in BW? Since when did all Indian audiences become so discerning that ONLY quality movies become hits? 😆

Dilwale is 10 times less crappy than HNY and dozens of horribly trashy movies done by "other superstars" in recent years, which still made money inspite of being much crappier than DW.

People are pretending now as if crappy movies never become hits in BW and ONLY content movies do well every year! What a joke!

This online campaign against Dilwale was a well planned and executed plot to bring down his movie for both political purpose and some groups' hate agenda against SRK.

Observing the BO numbers breakup by circuit and region proves that states like Rajasthan, Bihar, where BJP bhakts are the most active is where DW got surprisingly low figures inspite of being a mass entertainer. These are regions where otherwise much trashier movies have done very well in recent years.

Whereas in non BJP circuits like WB, Nizam, Kerala, TN, etc, DW did exceedingly well although states like WB and Kerala traditionally prefer more content based movies. If these states liked it means obviously DW wasnt as trashy as the smear campaign alleged.

Actually this online smear campaign is a very dangerous trend as there will be repercussions and no movie will be spared from negative campaigning by rival groups. 😈

As for industry not supporting SrK, they are all a bunch of cowards, they dont want to be targeted by the Sena brigade next...and also SRK actually has more enemies in BW than friends as he doesnt belong to any BW family.

Why is it so hard to accept that Dilwale is a bad movie instead of giving excuses. Its as simple as that.
