Can anyone here go on record and say if there was no ban Dilwale would have been blockbuster?

There was no ban for Dilwale in Mumbai, Delhi/UP and East Punjab and it has under-performed in those circuits. It will not even cross 150 cr in India.

Time for BW to realize Masala movies are not the trend nowadays. Arrow is pointing down for those genre of movies.

Time for SRK to realize his last few movies are not doing well in India except CE. Time for him to introspect. Maybe he should start treating movies like an art and not some business proposal.

Err no..I don think i agree with that..Most directors in Bollywood have no idea how to make masala films😆 Even today, if an entertaining masala/ commercial film is made, it'l be a blockbuster. Throwing in 2 fights, 3 songs, random punch dialogues do not make for a masala film..Unfortunately since most directors suck at making masala films and don even bother putting an effort, ppl scoff at the genre 😆

To all those saying that DW didnt succeed because its crappy, ONE QUESTION...dont crappy movies become superhits in BW? Since when did all Indian audiences become so discerning that ONLY quality movies become hits? 😆

Dilwale is 10 times less crappy than HNY and dozens of horribly trashy movies done by "other superstars" in recent years, which still made money inspite of being much crappier than DW.

People are pretending now as if crappy movies never become hits in BW and ONLY content movies do well every year! What a joke!

This online campaign against Dilwale was a well planned and executed plot to bring down his movie for both political purpose and some groups' hate agenda against SRK.

Observing the BO numbers breakup by circuit and region proves that states like Rajasthan, Bihar, where BJP bhakts are the most active is where DW got surprisingly low figures inspite of being a mass entertainer. These are regions where otherwise much trashier movies have done very well in recent years.

Whereas in non BJP circuits like WB, Nizam, Kerala, TN, etc, DW did exceedingly well although states like WB and Kerala traditionally prefer more content based movies. If these states liked it means obviously DW wasnt as trashy as the smear campaign alleged.

Actually this online smear campaign is a very dangerous trend as there will be repercussions and no movie will be spared from negative campaigning by rival groups. 😈

As for industry not supporting SrK, they are all a bunch of cowards, they dont want to be targeted by the Sena brigade next...and also SRK actually has more enemies in BW than friends as he doesnt belong to any BW family.

^This is outright funny. A circuit based on political party. Never read such thing in my life before.

Rajasthan and Bihar seriously???? Well Bihar is owned by Yadavs not BJP bhakts, but carry on. Those two circuits contribute how much money to a movie? 20 cr max?

What about the biggest circuit in India? Mumbai...??? Any reasons for it not working?? Shiv Sena did not close theaters there. What about Delhi/UP??? AAP and SP is in majority there. What is the reason for Dilwale under performing there.

Dilwale is performing very well in Single screens but fail to make any impact in Multiplexes. So as per your logic BJP bhakts have dominance in multiplexes whereas single screens in same city they can't do anthing???😆

For a movie to do well...

1. It needs to be a well made movie.

2. It needs to perform really well in Mumbai. Delhi/UP.

3. It needs to be a big hit with multiplex audience.

Dilwale failed in all three. Maybe its time to get in touch with reality that movie was bad and it had very bad WOM. I am yet to meet a person who has given glowing review of Dilwale.

There are crappy movies with good wom and crappy movies with bad wom. The former earns truck load of money and the latter ones crash. I personally enjoyed Dilwale but the fact is people didn't embrace it as well. Protests and all that do not really matter. They would have made a dent of 30crore max. And if wom was that good and people were craving to watch the movie, they would have watched it on Christmas anyway. People love Khans way too much to let go of a 'Good' Khan film. It's wom was like that of PRDP where people ended up making fun of it. But it made more money coz it was a solo Diwali release but tough luck for Dilwale as it clashed with a movie that is considered a visual treat and a must watch movie in the theaters.

how are you ignoring it?

this time a crappy movie released with an acclaimed one..so people chose the acclaimed one and rejected the crappy one since they had a CHOICE..how hard is it to understand?😕

Agree if you make a crappy movie no one literally cares, if I have a better choice.

And SRK will be constantly bashed and made fun of because his supposedly crappy movie (DW wasnt half as crappy as some other Solo releases) didnt make enough money because of CLASH and Protests? GREAT! 👏

So ALL this boils down to this...if a crappy movie is released SOLO and makes MONEY because people didnt have any other better choice then that movie and actor is forgiven and ALL IS WELL. 😕

So basic principle here is MAKING MONEY, not CONTENT!

In IF we bash every crappy movie from PRDP, Singh is Bling and Action Jackson. So this is not the case. But yes when there is only crap fest available then people are forced to see it or see no new movie

I think the only reason it worked so well overseas is because people overseas are crazy about SRK - Kajol , also few people, around me thought it was a sequel to DDLJ 😆 overseas audience rarely watch BW movies in theatres unless it's from the Khans or the WOM is super good

Well he's been making crap for years. Now that one of his films is finally not doing well, everyone else can now have the guts to call him out on it

Just prior and on the eve of Dilwale release, my timeline waz filled with ' who is who' of BW wishing DW team and already ' supposedly' congratulating on the hit while BM was barely there... it was 2-3 days AFTER the release celebs begun to praise the movie and once the tide turned towards BM, The celebs hurried t o wish BM... The ppl did support DW but once they realized that BM was emerging as a sucess , they switched camp..

Well, Thats the way it works... ppl back the winning horse...
