I was not into period dramas either and watched JA for HR only and I am glad I did.

yes we can always wait but I don't think it's easy to match up to HR's Akbar portrayal.

yes, that's the point. HR has set high standard with his performance as Akbar but Ranveer looks promising too. I am really looking forward to his performance and the movie.

Let BM release first before we jump into conclusions on whether RS can overdo HR's Akbar.. Anws I do echo zara's arguement here.. Why is there a comparison between a king and a warrior?? Why compare an apple and orange?? If u needed someone to compare then compare with a warrior role.. Say like the guy in magadheera.. Plus HR is a seasoned actor, has been around longer and perhaps he is a natural when it comes to royal roles.. RS, I bet its all pure hardwork, for someone with entirely different nature offscreen and also not really a glowing actor before BM, whatever I have seen if RS in BM has blown my mind away.. Barring that item song he did ofcourse.. Even there, he shone!!

The genre might be same (historical), but story and characters are entirely different . JA was more romantic, BM seems more action.

On the face, I could have said Hritik. But comparing their posture (someone put both their photos together in IF), Ranbir has more authentic look of a warrior. Hritik as Akbar might have looked handsome, but it is not authentic portrayal.

Hell to the no!
HR is basically the gold standard for portraying historical figures. I doubt RS or anyone else can come close to THAT level.

And it's not about HR being 'handsome' as Akbar. Yes, the looks enhanced his performance but he excelled in every freaking scene be it war scenes, romantic scenes, rugged/common man scenes (remember he went to the bazaar as a common man) etc...His aura, his body language, his diction, his agility, his EVERYTHING was just something else man.

I agree with Nadz! I don't like historical movies much but it was because of HR that I even tried watching JA.
