PRDP 2nd Highest Single Day of All Time
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has recorded the second highest single day collections in the history of the Hindi film industry. The collections are only below the more commercial Happy New Year' which released on the same holiday, on fewer screens, last year.
Some points:
- Out of the Top 25 highest single day collections, Salman Khan dominates with his films finding a mention 10 times.
- SRK and Aamir Khan have managed to make it to the Top 25, 6 times each. Followed by Hrithik Roshan - 3 times and Ajay Devgn - once.
- Salman has made it to the list on four non-holidays, which is the highest for any actor.
- Hrithik Roshan is the only actor to find a mention in the Top 25 during a clash. Haider released on the same day.
- The oldest film in the list is the first day collections of Ek Tha Tiger (2012).

True that. SRK fans are much more accomodating, I have observed this. Guys just accept that PRDP is not worth it. Its not Salman's fault! He failed to beat HNY and thats a fact. But had BB released on Diwali I am sure he would have broken day one record as well. So his star power is intact! This is coming from an SRK fan. Bollywood film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' starring Salman Khan has left Shah Rukh Khan starrer film Happy New Year'behind in the race. Both the films released on the occasion of Diwali, Happy New Year in 2014 and PRDP this year. And thus naturally comparisons have already begun since it stars two of the biggest actors Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. And it looks like Salman has won on first day!
SRK starrer film had created a huge record by becoming the highest grossing film on its opening day. According to reportsHappy New Year' had collected around Rs. 37 crores net approx on its first day at the box office. In its first week itself, within a span of three days the film grossed above 100 crores joining the 100 crore club.

The film has collected around Rs. 39 crores next approx in its Hindi version.
Opening day collections of films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan' andPK' was around Rs. 38.50 crores net approx which meansPRDP has left the films behind by a very close margin. Its collections was expected to be 15% better than Happy New Year' and it has surpassed the first day collections of Shah Rukh Khan starrer film by Rs. 2 crores net approx. After such a huge opening, the main performance of the film will depend on once the Diwali heat dies down. Will Salman Khan's Prem Ratan Dhan Payo shatter all records set by Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year'? We will know that soon enough.
