So. Shaandaar flops. It was the last hope for Shahid to get a clear hit and do well after the critical acclaim movie, Haider. A chance for him to be part of the race.
This means Shahid's again lost an other two years. His next three movies are all performances oriented. I don't think UP, Rangoon and SKvsAK are BO material. He hasn't signed an other commercial film ... So what's next for him?
I think, he will keep getting movies cause of his talent. Do you think it will be a better idea for him to follow his father's footsteps? Be known for acting skills only? What's the next chapter? Time to write him off?

What's wrong with performance oriented movies? If he gets known for his acting, I don't see the problem with that. Lots of actors are known and respected for it.

There is nothing wrong with performance oriented films though..Esp. because small films have been doing really well off late..A well made film will always do well..I have never got this distinction between commercial and performance oriented cinema..Yeah i know there are those off beat films where you have challenging roles but at the end of the day, a good film always succeeds..And acting in a masala/ commercial film is not easy..Even that requires talent..Anyways, point is, Shandaar failed because its a bad film..But if UP /Rangoon is well made, it'l definitely do well..If Udaan, Piku, GoW etc. can do well, why not UP? Esp. because it has an ensemble cast..

Seems like big budget films are not his forte cos his star power is not something to write home about. He excels in low budget, concept driven films like Haider, JWM, Kaminay. Needs to stick to that and he'll be remembered as a good actor.

Shahid is Good Actor . I feel He is better playing Off Beat Roles .
Cliche Larger than Life , Romantic Hero type Roles are not his Forte.
I hope He understands this .

I read in one of Shahid's Intv that UP is his Best Film (Acc to him) and He said that In most Genuine way. so yes I am looking Forward to it.

And then we have Rangoon too..

He still has Loads to Show .👍🏼

Maybe he should go on a signing spree and push up to have 2/3 releases a year . 2011-2015 he has 6 releases . 6 releases in 5 years . So they all looked at more and more closely since their his only films . Maybe if he releases more films atleast 1 is gonna be a hit each year .

Even though I am not a fan, I won't write him off completely. He has got a couple of good projects in his hands and if he is able to deliver acting wise, he should be fine. Shahid is blessed in the sense that some good directors have faith in him despite his unflattering record at the BO. He is and probably will never will be in the league of Khans / Akshay / Hrithik or even some newer stars in terms of commercial success, but he still may have a decent career if he chooses his scripts carefully and wisely and delivers perfomaces and movies which are appreciated critically, and at least break even at the BO. He should stick to small- medium budget movies with strong script and performance oriented character, rather than trying to break commercial records.

Don't give up. Performance oriented films can do extremely well with the right script. The audience appreciates a good story.
I honestly think Shahid should ask his wife and his father to read his scripts and pick the best ones for him. He is terrible at picking the right scripts. He tries to be picky, but his script sense is terrible.

Shahid is a star in his own right, his box office record may not be great but he has always given solid performances!
Look at his work in Haider - he swept all the awards even though the film itself was not a huge commercial success!

But this "final nail in the coffin" crap needs to stop 😆 Everyone always says this after every Shahid film release and yet he always bounces back. He's been here for about 12 years and is still going strong. I dont think he is going anywhere!

Shahid needs to pick films in which his talented gets utilized. In the commercial films where he has done good work those films have always worked with Jab We Met, Vivah etc.

As i said before, he probably got paid big bucks for Shandaar and thats probably the only reason why he did it! Sometimes you do work for money and not necessarily for the art of acting!
