He should stick to mid budget content driven movies . That way if the movie is good , he will gain appreciation like he did for Haider .
Unfortunately time to time he runs for the commercial " big movies " and they don't work for him atall . I suspect that's both for wider acceptance plus fatter pay packets as its quiet obvious these big movies , case in example Shandaar pay well .

He has had far too many failures I am afraid in his career ...he definitely has the talent but I don't think he has the crowd pull ...the kind required for big mainstream films... He needs to make peace with that .

Looking forward to both udta Punjab and Rangoon .

He should do what Rajkumar Rao or Farhan Akthar are doing. They know they will never be stars, so better be content with doing small budget films.

Shahid is like Aishwarya in terms of getting big directors and projects irrespective of how their track records at the box office were...I think at least for the next 5 years, Shahid is going to be on demand...Its a shame if an actor like him gives it up so early...He is just in his early 30s for crying out loud...

Shahid has no comparison with them in terms of star appeal...Its another thing his script sense sucks in terms of the commercial cinema...

^ Don't worry.. Shahid will bounce back with UP!
Shahid Kareena in a movie but not sharing a single frame with each other.. their presence in this UP movie itself will draw crowds! 😎

The thing is, Shahid, Kareena has never been that 'it' couple ever...Not even when they were going strong and now I doubt if anybody cares for their so called coming together...

Shaandaar was a terrible film, but his performance was quite good.
He is a talented actor and I hope he continues to do films like Haider in the future.

Shandaar was a failure because of poor direction and production.

If it weren't for Shahid and Alia the movie would not even be on anyone's radar.

Totally agree with this. Shaandaar had poor direction, which was not Shahids nor Alias fault. In fact their star power was what pulled people to the theatre and their chemistry was the X factor of this whole movie! And Shahid is getting good reviews for his performance anyway so we can certainly not write him off because he was, he is and he will remain a great actor!

Hasn't it already been established that with the exception of the Khans/Hrithik and sometimes Akshay/Ajay - everyone else's movies will only work if the content is good.

Shahid can do big commercial films or small films - the most important thing is the content, which is always an issue with Shahids movies. He has poor taste in films. He has had commercial success and success in smaller films. He just needs to brush up on his script-approving skills.

But we all also have to understand that sometimes actors do certain films because they get paid a lot of money even if the film is horrible. Lots of them do this.
