You might go and watch PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA 2 over the weekend, and may even appreciate the movie as much as the first part, but there are some things about your PKP2 which you probably might not be aware about. Here are 7 facts about PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA and its sequel PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA 2 that Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha, Sonnalli Seygall revealed to us when we exclusive spoke to them. Check them out... During PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA, the cast didn't even know the script Ask Kartik if he thought the film would be a hit and he said, "No I didn't think so. We didn't have a narration as such before signing the film. We knew the concept and a few things from the audition (We were auditioning for 6 months) and during that time, somewhere, we got the hint that whatever is turning up, is good. So we had a feeling that this won't be a bad film. We didn't even know the script. I was given the monologue (by the way, this is the same "Pyaar" wala monologue) and I related a lot to that! We did that scene, then the contract came and after that, we had the narration. Actually during the narration we were in splits. The guys loved that film even when the girls weren't convinced. Nushrat actually took Luv sir's class everyday and asked him to explain everything happening in a scene. But we guys were convinced that no matter if the film is hit or no, the audiences will definitely go watch the movie and praise it. Initially the movie didn't do well at the Box Office, but from Monday, due to word of mouth, it started doing good business and became a cult amongst the youth. It was a surprise hit of the year and for all of us as well. We're more than happy that it happened. There were some things we wish we had encashed on for PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA, and now we have a second chance in PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA 2.
Nushrat had refused PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA When we asked Nushrat Bharucha what was her reaction when she first heard the script of PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA, she said, "I refused the film after reading the script. Kartik also knows about it. While casting, I was told that it's a romantic, fun, masti film between a girl and a boy. Hearing that, I agreed to do the role and even attended workshops. I was the only girl casted by that time. So after some days of the workshop, I spoke up and ask for the movie script so that I can prepare. I told Luv sir why is he waiting for the whole cast to be ready when I have most scenes with Kartik? He then gave me the first half of the script. I read it and then demanded for the second half. Then our director Luv Ranjan gave me the second half and when we read the script together, I refused to do the film. Abhishek sir looked at Luv sir and said, Maine bola tha na mat do'(I had told not to give the script). I won't say that I found the script derogatory, but I was convinced that this doesn't happen. I told them that my character seemed caricature type. I remember I was fighting on the set with them even during the last scene. Actually we even shot two variations of the last scene. I even told sir (Luv) that he'll be convinced that my variation of the scene is better. We ended up working on his variation, but I was really against the character. If I love Kartik in the movie and he breaks (personally for me, a man breaks when he cries), then no matter what his sin be (even if it's murder), as a girl I just can't see my man break no matter if the world is breaking. I don't get how a girl can be bitchy even when her boyfriend is crying on her lap! I thought my character in PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA was the biggest risk of my career."
Nushrat couldn't relate to her character in the sequel as well Ask Nushrat about her reaction when signing PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA 2 and she says, "Luv sir made Neha so unrelatable for me and then he made Chikoo so superficial (Kartik then added, "everybody relates to her") that I was just like how can she only talk about colours, nail paint, party and clothes. How can she have no depth? She's just one dimensional I think. So I had a lot of problem with her." She further added, "He really sees that character in me. I don't know from where. And I think he's really confused, because he saw Neha in me and now he's seeing Chikoo in me also. How bad can I look to someone? What logic is this that you found two of such annoying characters in me only?"
Kartik was unaware that the famous monologue was going to be repeated Kartik, when asked if he knew whether his monologue from PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA was going to be repeated, said, "I didn't know the monologue was going to be repeated. But during narration, we got to know that they have retained the monologue. And during that time, we were just thinking about what was left from the prequel? But when we heard the monologue of 20-25 pages (Nushrat added, God knows from where did he get that much matter?), the content is new." In that time, Luv sir enters and Nushrat asks him how he manages to bring 25 pages. To which Luv says, "From you". "On the first day, he got a book for us to read. The monologues are as hilarious as the first one. While this monologue was the same, the content is new. My character is just ranting out his frustration. The monologue was of 12 minutes, which was written down in 12 pages. It's a dream to do something like that. I'm glad I could do the monologue in the first film and can do it again in the sequel," Kartik added. "While the monologue was long, it was a single take," revealed Kartik.
Sonnalli Seygall was supposed to play the character Ishita Sharma is playing Sonnalli revealed that her role was swapped at the end moment. She said, "In PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA 2, I was supposed to play what Ishita is playing - Kusum, the free spirited modern girl, which is actually what I relate to. It was Luv sir's decision to cast me as the character I'm playing. I was casted for the role of Kusum, and in the end he swapped it." Further revealing about her character, Sonnalli said, "I play a very desi Delhi girl. Luv sir also has a very Delhi thing when he talks. So I picked that up. She's a simple girl who works in a call centre. There's nothing glamourous about her. She's not sexy or the person who dresses to impress. She's someone who really values her family and is very scared about the family. I'm not playing a girl next door. My PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA character had dressing sense. My PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA 2 character is that of someone who will not go against her parents.
Sonnalli Seygall had to take permission from her mother to get out of house Further revealing about how Luv Ranjan helped her prepare for the character she plays, Sonnalli said, "I stay with my mom, and between us, I take more responsibilities. We're like friends. Luv sir actually called up my mom and told her that I'll not go out for 2-3 months without her permission. She shouldn't shout at you. Once we were partying and I can't believe it because I was going out for a party with the cast only and sir asked Did you take mummy's permission?' I said For this too?' He said yes. So I asked mom and she said I'll let you know by evening. I was like, Oh god! What are these two doing?' After that, it came to my clothes. They said wear a jacket.' But that really helped in the frustration of my character."
Omkar Kapoor also in an interview revealed that the boys actually got drunk on the last daySharaabi' song shoot When asked Omkar Kapoor which song does he like from PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA 2, Omkar said, "I like Sharaabi' dude. When I heard the song first, I said this is a boy's song. Even when I got the brief from Bosco-Ceaser (our choreographers) and Luv Ranjan, they said, Guys. Remember you've not fallen in a relationship yet. So this song comes in the beginning of the film - that the guys have set up for a great night out and they just want to go and have fun. If three bachelors went out in a nightclub, what would they do? It gave us a lot of freedom when performing on this song. We were just having a blast. Had we not been shooting, we'd actually be drinking. In fact, when we shot for four nights in a row, on the last day of the Sharaabi' shoot we opened the bottle of alcohol at 7 o clock in the morning and started drinking. I said, Enough of drinking fake alcohol between scenes, now let's drink for real."
