SUPER HEROO 9.9
Game over for Param Sundari at the box office
Karan Nandini Kids are here
Hero has shown a small drop in business on its second day at the box office, which is normal for films like these. A similar film, Heropanti', starring newcomers Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon, also showed similar drops.
Heropanti' collected Rs 6.52 cr on Friday and Rs 6.29 cr on Saturday. In comparison, Hero' has collected Rs 6.85 crore on Friday and 6.62 crore on Saturday. However, Heropanti' showed huge growth on Sunday by collecting Rs 8.2 crore.
Recording similar growth like Heropanti' or better will be the biggest test for Hero', because if the film falls flat on Sunday, then it runs the risk of a big drop on Monday which could seal the fate of the film.

The re-launch of the "Hero"
I watched the movie on Friday, I was worried, as I read bad reviews, and there was not much crowd in our cinema either. I was upset with the bad reviews because it has been ages since I have seen a good romantic love story, and I was really looking forward to watching the remake of the famous Subhash Ghai's late 80's saga by the same name that launched Jackie Shroff.
To be honest, I was sold with the first scene and introduction of the "Hero" aka Sooraj's entry itself! Not only does this guy have great body, but man o man he has some amazing body strength, I was shocked at how he pulled his body weight in the first scene, and I was also impressed with his action fight skills! It was an apt entry of a perfect Hero who is there to save the day! Then later I got sold by Sooraj's amazing dancing skills in the song "Hero ke bhi hero hum" and was totally sold with the chemistry he shared with Athiya aka the heroine "Radha".
Then of course came the sequence of the kidnapping, and the sequences of Radha being all alone with Sooraj and his friends, now this is where things could get disinteresting! However the screenplay, acting and direction was top-notch! Those sequences not only showed great chemistry between the Hero and Heroine, but even showed amazing chemistry amongst the friends with Sooraj and Radha! So the first half was quite flawless and brilliant! When the interval happened I really wondered as to why this movie got bad reviews, and got worried about the second half as that is when things can get stagnant, as it shows the struggle of the two lovers to stay together, I remember how melodramatic and prolonged was the second half of the original Subhash Ghai film!
Then started the second half of the film, and again I found it brilliant from the word go, more amazing chemistry, more heart touching moments, more good songs and very less time spent on unnecessary prolonged drama and fight sequences, the character jimmy was not given too much screen space, and was bearable, moreover vivan bhatena was entertaining, and his character was not shown lusty or as violent as shakti kapoor's character which was a big relief! All in all the second half had a good mix of elements and it managed to entertain me throughout!
Now coming to the performances, Sooraj Pancholi was absolutely brilliant as "Sooraj" he gave his character a very endearing quality, which is challenging when your character is shaped up to be a "alpha-male" I really loved his portrayal of the character, and I do feel he is very talented and will go a long way if he chooses the right scripts and if the Jiah Khan controversy does not haunt him! Athiya was also brilliant! She seemed annoying in promos, but she surprised me with her acting and her portrayal of Radha! It is an insult to compare her to Sonam who has such bad dialogue delivery and is such a pathetic actress! Athiya also has a very good future, all she needs to do is choose the right scripts! Sharad Kellkar as Athiya's brother was brilliant, he lent a good support to the movie, Anita Hassanandani was wasted, Vivian Bhatena as the villain was also very good! The songs were also really soothing and beautiful! And really added to the beauty and romance! Overall I will give this movie a 4.5/5

Sunday Kanpur #Hero 6.42lacs aprox
Hero has done fair business on Sunday of around 7.50-7.75 crore nett. There is decent jump on Sunday though not a big jump but still the weekend numbers of around 20.50 crore nett are pretty good. The film has not gone through on Saturday and Sunday despite the opening well on Friday. This makes the Monday business crucial for the film and it will have to be a good hold if it is to anywhere.
The film has done well in some circuits, infact if you take out Delhi city and the main cities of Punjab the trend would be okay as well. As these areas have not performed the growth did not come on Saturday.
Mumbai has done well with business set to be around 6.50 crore nett and the CP Berar, Raasthan, CI and Bihar also have good numbers. The film will have to show a drop of 40% or less on Monday. This sort of trend could take it close to 35 crore nett for the week but even then it will be hit in weeks two with competition from a major release for multiplexes like Katti Batti.
