Please avoid banning this post!

I guess the Phantom fiasco got me thinking

how did people react to watching Slumdog Millionaire, to it winning Oscars?

I recall Amitabh Bachchan was not happy with the film.

Did you watch this film, and if so, did you like it?

If you didn't watch the film, why not?

Just curious.

Man, I had watched this movie years back. Can't even recall all the details. But from what I remember, I wasn't much impressed. I didn't see the big deal. May be for foreigners it was a different experience, but after having seen so many BW movies, didn't understand the hype around it. May be I need to watch it again...

On a side note, AR Rahman and his soundtrack: Brilliant.

P.S: What's your take on the movie ?

I watched it, but admittedly I found it pretty difficult to do so. I recall making it a point to watch it alone, because I wasn't sure about how sensitive I'd be

In the end though, I liked the movie for its thrills.

and psh, ARR was fab as always 😳

This movie was made on what foreigners love to see about India .Their perception of India... No I didn't like the movie.
Highly overrated.

I hated that scene when the boy drops himself into public toilet and "swim" thru to meet Amitabh. It was so disgusting.
Rest of the movie was engaging but not all as good it did on BO or at awards.

Anil K's acting was OTT, annoying as hell.

My American manager was to travel to India for company's work and before leaving while talking to me, he tells me.. "my wife told me to take water. Coz she saw in Slumdog how they fill water in mineral bottles." 😳

No matter what but some actually perceive India how this movie projected. Didnt like that. 👎🏼

Don't even know how this bakwas film got so many oscars while our good films like Mother India & Lagaan lost over there. Oscars looks like fake & meant for money oriented people because real talent never appreciated there.

That movie can be easily be passed off as our movie from the 80s minus "who wants to be a millionaire?"
So many best picture awards, really?
