Don't know Y some people reacted in -ve way?? :) Slums etc are just settings this movie was placed in.. It has its soul and a very beautiful one...

It was okay...At the time, I thought it was a solid movie, but I didn't understand what was so Oscar-worthy about it. Perhaps because it was a film different from the mainstream culture. And the music itself was different from your typical "western" music. Jai Ho became such a rage.

But I feel like the good thing about this film is that it led to more mainstream movies (albeit still stereotypical-ish) about India/Indians, like Life of Pi, the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel etc.

I liked the movie.. the plot was interesting. The questions interlinking/coinciding with lives was amazing. Music was also good.
