No matter what but some actually perceive India how this movie projected. Didnt like that. 👎🏼

I don't remember it much but I recall liking it. I liked the idea of how an impecunious adolescent becomes a millionaire through a game show due to his hardships/tragic experiences in life. However, I didn't like how they focused so much on JUST the negative aspects of India.
I don't remember the scene Allblacks mentioned but yes there were some pretty disgusting things shown in the movie and unfortunately that is how the world views India.

Man, I had watched this movie years back. Can't even recall all the details. But from what I remember, I wasn't much impressed. I didn't see the big deal. May be for foreigners it was a different experience, but after having seen so many BW movies, didn't understand the hype around it. May be I need to watch it again...

On a side note, AR Rahman and his soundtrack: Brilliant.

P.S: What's your take on the movie ?

+1. I feel the same. Maybe for foreigners it was a different experience but for me it was a below average movie. 👎🏼 Too much of ridiculous stereotyping. 🥱 Only thing good was ARR's Music. 👍🏼

I might be in a minority here, but I liked it. I know it was hard for some people to watch because it showed the very brutal reality. My mom didn't like it because of that. But acting wise, it was good and I thought Jamal's life and how he overcame everything was inspiring. And I have to admit, the poop scene was funny and so was the dance number!

I loved the movie and the cast especially the kids. I still remember standing outisde Beverly Hotel and cheering with my friends😆 but it was fun. Samething I do during Oscar 😛 Desi Ishtyle 😛But the annoying part was when office colleagues were asking me same question again and again whether India is really poor. They thought India has changed from land of snake charmers to poverty.

I watched it so many years ago. The only thing i remember is not being too impressed by it. It was an enjoyable one-time watch, but didnt live up to its hype in the awards circuit.

As far as potrayal of india goes, i remember alot of people being unhappy about it...But even indian films show india in a bad light, so what is the point in criticizing a foreign director for doing the same??😕

I liked it but there is negative side to it.
It is a international movie which shows India's slum life, poor people
In internet I found many foreigners stereotyping India as slum country
It is overrated yes
There is much better Indian movies what so special about it?
Danny boyle made the movie on Vikas Swarup's novel Q and A.
Now he is MEA spokeserson 😊
