Akshay Kumar's the only A-lister who still manages to come up with four releases a year. While it might seem tiring, the actor doesn't feel it at all. Ask if it becomes tiring to shift from one film to another and he shoots back, "No, it's not too difficult. People ask me this a lot. I came to shoot after two months of holidaying. So, I didn't feel tired or exasperated. I have a simple funda which I follow " I take Sundays off and only work eight hours every day."
While the switch might take others months, our Khiladi has a different take. "If you have a film that releases on Friday, by the weekend you know how it's going to fare at the box office. And by Monday, you're back to work. I don't think too much about the results when I sign a film." The actor who just had a release (Brothers) last week, has immediately moved onto his next films. In a candid chat, he talks about his upcoming films...
Singh is Bliing
The first song from the film is out and Singh is Bliing looks like a mad comic caper yet again. Akshay reveals, "It is not a sequel, but I am playing a Sardar in the film. It is an action-packed comedy and I am really looking forward towards the release."
Airlift
Based on a true incident, Airlift is based on the backdrop of the Gulf War of 1990 and revolves around the biggest human evacuation in history. Akshay tells us, "It is based in 1993 when Saddam Hussain was attacked and what had happened to Indians there. We spoke to a lot of people and we have incorporated all their stories and as much as 90-95 per cent of the stories and the film are all true. It's happened in reality." So will Airlift follow a no song-and-dance approach? "It has one or two songs which are required. But it has definitely got a different take on the issue," Akki reveals. The actor has already wrapped the overseas schedule for the film. "Around 70 per cent of the film is already shot and 30 per cent is left. We will start shooting soon in Mumbai."
Housefull 3
He's been part of both Housefulls, both runaway hits. The franchise is back with its third installment. So is Akshay. The entire team recently finished the look test for the film. But contrary to reports, they haven't yet started shooting for the film. "I start the shoot for Housefull 3 in a month's time," he confirms.
Namaste England
Of late, we haven't quite seen Akshay playing the romantic hero on celluloid. But with Namaste England, the wait might finally be over. "Namaste England is a full-on romantic film. But it's not a sequel." When does he plan to start with the film? "We start early next year," he adds. Who's the heroine? "We haven't finalised that yet," he rues.
Gutkha
Akshay, who was in the news for signing Gutkha, revealed that he's not a part of the film anymore. "That was with Puneet Malhotra. Initially, I liked the idea but we both weren't happy with the script. So I'm not doing the film."
Dishoom
Recently, rumours were rife that Akshay will be having a special cameo in good friend Rohit Dhawan's next, Dishoom. He was supposed to play a gay character but the actor rubbished all such rumours. "I am not doing any appearance in Dishoom. These reports are not true."
