The remaining 15 movies have not done well, but a lot of them were off-beat films such as Raincoat, which may not have worked at the box office but its considered one of her best performances. Its also hard for movies like Guzaarish to work at the box office due to the depressing content- even though it was 5 years ago then audience was not as open as they are today...You have to take that into consideration as well...Alot of the movies Ash did were ahead of their time and didnt work because the audience was very closed-midned back then...
..I think a movie like Shabd would do well if it released in 2015.. but anyway the the bigger picture is that she was appreciated of her acting. Sure Raincoat and Guzarish flopped badly, but she earned so much recognition for her work that she even won awards for it - does that really make unsuccessful then? Dont think so. I guess success for you is delivering 500 crore films that have no storyline and are filled with lots of senseless stuff, if thats your criteria then yes Ash is a failure, and so are most actresses then.
From 1999-2010, with the exception of 2 years she was always being nominated in the best actress category. I do not think you can call that a "failure"
Plus she does have big hits outside of the Hindi films industry: .like Bride & Prejudice, Iruvar, Jeans, Robot (which was one of the first films to earn 100 crores), Enthiran, etc etc.
