How much is BOXOFFICEMOJO Reliable?

Boxoffice Mojo is the ONLY reliable site for boxoffice collections. It is the IMDB of boxoffice.

Box office Mojo is reliable 100% for Hollywood movies. And even they get the numbers from 'Rentrak' only. Rentrak is a company that tracks movie collections from all the theaters in US. Each and every theater enters the number in Rentak which is updated as a database. The database is then available for everyone who have subscribed to them ( mostly studios, websites, distributors etc).


With Box office Mojo, one needs to see what they are reporting clearly. There are "estimates" initially and then there are the final numbers. The problem creeps in for non US folks who fail to see the difference in reporting. If its Rentrak eventually all numbers will be same, no under reporting.
