Ranbir was offered ZNMD? That is news! Can't see how HR agreed to play Kabir in ZNMD, when clearly even in narration it would have been obvious that Farhan had a much better role. Fatherless guy with a killer sense of humor and free spirited vs money minded grouch? Or maybe it was the lure of Katrina that must have convinced HR, that his was a better role. To be fair, Farhan acted better than HR too.

Cos there is this general perception that the guy who is paired with the female lead is the hero of the film 😆 So HR probably assumed his role is the most prominent & there is no way Farhan can overshadow him 😆 But Farhan owned the film & how..Its actually not about Zoya giving him the best lines..The film also had HR & Abhay along with him..HR who is an accomplished star & Abhay who was considered to be a good actor & doing really well at that point..So the fact that he managed to overshadow them is a big deal..Infact, he legit danced better than HR too..Cos i couldn't take my eyes off him even in Senorita 😆

Ranbir and Imran were approached first. But when Ranbir learned Farhan would play the other friend's role, he refused to do the movie.. Imran also left it.. reason I don't know. Then Zoya went to HR and Abhay.

Btw, HR played Arjun; it was Abhay who played Kabir. And I don't think HR's role was weak.. it was HR who was weak.. HR can't play light hearted.. normal guy's role.

When HR was approached, no heroine was approached yet. Zoya was thinking of casting Kalki as Laila.. but Farhan and Riteish convinced her saying the budget of the movie is high as they have HR on board, they need a top heroine to make profit. So, they approached Kat.

THIS..I actually think even Abhay would have played the role better had he been cast as Arjun instead of Kabir 😆 Oh & Kalki would have made for a good Laila..Though i do think its one of Katty's better performances & HR-Kat had good chemistry in the film..My favorite scene though is the one where Farhan meets his father..Gah, such good acting..Farhan was so so good <3

I personally felt Abhay was better than both Hrithik and Farhan. Farhan just had the better role out of the three.

Why would superstar HR play a side kick to flopoor?

No wonder this casting only lasted in zoya's head

OT;

HR and kareena'a pairing alone would have done fireworks.

The new cast looks meh. No crowd puller baring ranveer to a certain extent. I am just glad that shefali is there instead of madhuri..that is the only positive change

Anushka as professional dancer..W*F were they smoking?
