Allonsy, sorry my quote is not working, but Kangana was 21 I think. Oh god, Aditya is an effin monster and I am not even going there but Kangana had another rumour with Ajay Devgn as well.
Yeah, since it was SRK/Akshay, everyone went crazy lol. She really needs better sense regarding her relationships. She was never especially liked to begin with and that rumour pretty much ended her career, thank god she had a Barfi! at hand.
It's legit funny how horribly nepotist the industry is. Funnily enough, Aish wasn't even recognized in the industry before she married into a Bachchan family either. She wasn't getting roles, people were shutting her out, was forced to do offbeat, regional films even though she was actually regarded as the one to watch out for. Her career pretty much dried up due to that one incident too. It's only later when she married into an even more illustrious family, she got proper recognition within the industry. She married the best tbh.
This industry will go far to protect their own brats and divas lol.

I didn't like her before. I thought she was a complete wannabe. I started looking at her in new light after Saath Khoon Maaf. She is a phenomenal actress in serious roles. After that, I also started liking her go getter attitude. I'm guessing this quality of her's rubs a lot of people the wrong way since most people tend to like demure heroines or blunt ones. PC is aggressive as well as diplomatic so she seems to be disliked a lot because they find her manipulative. But I really like how she goes after what she wants. It's quite admirable.

Yeah, she does have a super wannabe vibe to her tbh and her put on accent lol. Though, it was hilarious how Bebo asked in KWK- Where did she get her accent from and PC was all like, Same place your husband got it from lmao.
😆 I don't especially LOVE her offscreen but I totally admire her for her sheer grit like you said and her interest in experimenting. Her ambition and strength are praiseworthy tbh. She doesn't really connect to most people on a personal level but everything she achieved even after all that struggle and criticism, is praiseworthy tbh.

I think it's a combination of things.. that Kangana was passed on like a parcel between Sanjay Dutt/Ajay and at the receiving end of their stupid misogynistic comments/behaviour during that flop movie they did, made people empathetic towards her, more so cos her talent wasn't given due recognition then either. I don't imagine that after Queen though, she's no longer an underdog.

Women like Priyanka/Kat/Aish/DP have thicker skin/rarely show their weakness when at the receiving end/robust in adversity so I guess people take it for granted and think they'll bounce back given their 'manipulative' ways. Online support is extended more towards Anu/Sonam and the like who haven't handled bashing on twitter that well/ been overtly vocal about criticism they get and its effect on them.

PC is very talented, hard working and has the guts/will to do something different. She isn't lazy enough to just do flowerpot roles all the time.
And her mental strength that made her over-power the typical bollywood bullies like Kareena/KJo etc. makes me love her even more.
And she isn't restricting herself to bollywood, she is exploring a music career, an American TV show area .. hopefully that all works out well for her.

Yes her passion to be the best at what she does is admirable. That's one thing I like about PC. And she can be a good actress in certain films. Still, she's not my top fav actress and wouldn't call her the best of this generation either. Just my opinion. There are other actresses who are much more natural than her. Only thing PC is better at is picking good roles and films.

NOw I have not watched a lot of Priyanka's movies. What I have see, she was good in them. See, I think treatment Priyanka gets from the industry is kinda like Sridevi's. Sridevi has achieved so much and in so many industries both in the south and north. THe amount of movies she has done itself is commendable.
But have you seen one award function give her an achievement award? No, not one. They keep giving awards upon awards to Rekha or Madhuri but Sridevi has not yer received an achievement award. It is terrible nepotism by the industry. It just sucks.

Priyanka is similar in that she has tried out for various things without fear of failure. It is commendable that she has at least tried them out professionally and now a series on ABC.

She definitely is disliked here when compared to many other actresses. Personally, I think her offscreen personality puts me off at times because she tries too hard to come across as some cool chic etc lol but other than that she's a phenomenal actress. She comes across as really ambitious and I like that about her. I was surprised to see how so many people were bringing her down after seeing the Quantico trailer..when in reality, to bag an American show as the lead in today's time is very impressive for anyone, let alone an Indian. I don't know what the reason is but if people dislike her because of her supposed affair with SRK..then that's pretty hypocritical. I hardly see people bringing down SRK for that,..and, I like SRK more than I like PC...but it's a two way street..and just because SRK is loved more generally speaking, the blame seems to to shift to PC in this case from whatever I've seen around here. I also think it has to do with the kind of films she chooses. Ask her to do a YJHD or something and you'll have more people talking about her around here. Her films aren't really everyone's taste...so maybe everyone here doesn't follow her films? and hence people only find reasons such as her rhinoplasty or her English accent or her affairs etc as reasons to pick on her.

IF hates everyone and on odd days showers love on the same people. 😆

I think as people said the SRK-PC thing but honestly that'sbehind closed doors and it takes 2 to tango. So if you blame her, start shifiting half or more towards him too please.

Also, I've noticed people in general like to root for the underdog and then drag them down when they're at top. It's called Tall Poppy Syndrome and it happens to everyone and everywhere no matter what industry. People don't think she's all that and she doesn't deserve the show or the music career. But she went there and tried and on some scale succeed. I don't really see a lot of actresses nowadays with her range to do so much and work so hard. Liek I said, it takes a lot of cojones and risk to enter an industry like American TV when she's a top billing actress in her own country. I like rooting for her b/c she's actually gonna open the doors for a lot of Asian Indian women to be on TV as leading stars if she succeeds, but not everyone can see that.

I think overall it's a mix of both Priyanka's personality and Priyanka's image.

From what I understand about her offscreen is that she is very temperamental and unpredictable. You never know when she's in her nice mood or when she's having her fair share of moments. Co-stars aren't fond of her. I'm guessing her behavior is why she doesn't win as many awards (even the silly ones), and why many of the senior actors do not talk as highly of her.

Plus stuff like the SRK drama etc do her no favors. Because other than that, she's just as much (or even more) of a go-getter as all of the other actresses who entered Bollywood without any connections.

As far as why she doesn't have as many fans...from what I understand, most of the actresses are idolized for their beauty and elegance etc. There's a certain image that most of them have. Priyanka's a stunner, but her image is that of a sexy siren, rather than a traditional beauty. No problem with that, but that word "ethereal" (lol 😆) is never used in this forum in regards to her as they are to the other ladies...and I think that says something about her appeal
