Kahaani did well, why not Mardaani?

Kahaani did so well, why didn't Mardaani do well? I found Mardaani a very decent film, and Rani was superb, hands down.

Both films are the same to me but Kahaani took Vidya's career a step forward, and Mardaani was left unnoticed?

Suspense factor helped Kahaani.

And I agree Mardaani was a good movie and Rani did a great justice to her role.

kahaani is a mystery thriller ,which kept audience glued till the end...where as Mardaani is a crime thriller ,which resembles to CID episodes...

Maardani was good
Kahani was extra ordinary
It's easily the on of the best thriller of all time
The story was original unlike Maardani
No one expected Vidya Bagchi to take Durga Avatar in the end

Mardaani was an adult film. Kahaani was something a 12 year old could watch without getting grossed out.

When Kahaani came, it shocked everyone. Coz no one expected the film to turn out the way it did, while Mardaani was similar but didn't have the shock factor. And Queen had come out the same year and did far better, and got all the acclaim. Kahaani didn't have as many competitors, baring English Vinglish (which was given the royal ignore by Filmfare) and Barfi!.

I loved Mardaani though, it pulled out a sensitive issue and hit me right where it hurts. Rani, Tahir, the director-story writer, and all the supporting cast were brilliant.

Mardaan was a very raw film. It tackles really sensitive issues.

Kahaani was a movie anyone could watch.

Mardaani also did well.

But honestly it is too hard hitting and takes up a very serious issue.

Even after being censored it was hard to watch.

Kahaani is harmless and just a suspense film compared to Mardaani.

I think Mardaani got the deserved attention. The storyline of Mardaani is not completely new, films like Mardaani was made in other languages too.

But Kahaani concept was relatively new , the way they showed the revenge story was thrilling .

Kahaani was a more family friendly film. Whereas Mardaani was not.

Plus Kahaani was more suspenseful and kept audience glued to their seats.

Having said that, Mardaani still did well, cause it was still a hit despite it's raw subject matter. But I don't think Rani got the deserved accolades for it.
