Every 107 seconds, another American is sexually assaulted.

Here's the math. According to the U.S. Department of Justice's National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS)--there is an average of 293,066 victims (age 12 or older) of rape and sexual assault each year.

There are 525,600 minutes in a non-leap year. That makes 31,536,000 seconds/year. So, 31,536,000 divided by 293,066 comes out to 1 sexual assault every 107 seconds.

Congratulations. By shifting focus on sexual assault in America you just significantly reduced the rape rate in India. Now a woman is raped only every 30 minutes.

Please bring to light sexual assault in UK, Sweden, Germany, France, Netherlands, Australia, Canada and New Zealand too. That will reduce the rape rate in India by a whopping margin to become only one every 24 hours.

You missed the point .. Go through below quoted ..

I think she means the TM ; all of her posts are mainly on rapes and quotes miss pinto and always trying to demean India and how her US is so great

So now does it make a difference ?.. Nobody is trying to run away or turn a blind eye to a nation's problem but when the intention behind such topics is pretty clear , you cant expect people to not to take it seriously or not to retaliate ..

Speaking for myself , i have no idea who this TM is nor have i seen any of his/her other topics/posts to judge him/her , so i am basing my opinion on what i saw in the above quoted or better yet i ll leave it to the TM to clear his/her stand first .. has he/she been on an intentional India bashing spree while eulogizing US ?.. if yes , then the article posted by light_year is entirely valid in the current context.. there is no way an appropriate discussion could be facilitated on such a platform .. its mostly about to & fro here..

wah re trying to shift the focus completely hades ji. The point is not tht rape do not occurs in India but do not try to announce India as the rape capital. Whenever name of US comes, you have some serious issues but leave no stones unturned to show India in bad light. YOU just try to gain some attention by highlighting some wrongs in India which is fine but when it is compared to others you suddenly develop defensive mechanism. Captain America stay in america. Our shaktiman is enough😆

In a land of 1.25 billion people, it is the percentage that matters and not sheer numbers.
It's ridiculous to claim that most rape goes unreported in India. Maybe it does, but how do you get numbers for something that isn't even reported. Out of thin air?
Madonna, an American from the US of A has also talked about how she was raped and she didn't report it either. This means that AMerican rape figures are also likely lower.

Yes, the judiciary in India is warped with cases taking a couple of decades to conclude. But this is true of all cases across the spectrum not just rape cases. Rape victims are treated shabbily in courts the world over.

I saw this docu about the UK where it was revealed that there the rape victim is not a part of the prosecution team but testifies as a witness. And almost anywhere in the world, defence lawyers do character assassination of the victim.

Common sense would tell you a conservative country like India, girls won't be telling their families they got raped let a lone making a police report. You know what that will do to a girl's "reputation"???

And obviously in every country there are crimes that go unreported but numbers for rape victims that go unreported are higher for India and other conservative countries.
