I loved Aayirathil Oruvan from Selva. It had some flaws but still great attempt.

regarding irandam ulagam its a cult classic movie for me May be for the peoples who understand the movie .

Irandam ulagam is not a great love story but its a story about great "love". there are so many valuable reasons for its failure and also the way selvaraghavan made it (removing many commercial elements ).he wants to prove the point that, story is so important than anything to many spineless directors, who make mindless stupid comedy/masala/formula movies or the others who hide behind big stars .

Everyone wants to pull him down . they got a chance.

Anyway it will take few decades for others to make something like this movie in kollywood .

Hey Virus ( I am sorry donno ur name ) , am not pulling it down, im sure irandam ulangam must be a good film too as selvaraghavan isnt somebody whom i would underestimate, what i meant was, that Irandam Ulangam isn't celebrated the same way we do with Kadal Konden or Pudhupettai , i just feel the impact is lesser here.. Dhanush had shot for the film as he was the lead initially, later the film got shelved and Dhanush lost the dates and Selva had to go for Arya ... Anyways, i hope Dhanush and Selva joins hands again for a project ...

About Vikram, i know he is on par with surya if talent is concerned, nd may be better infact having national award too, but its a misery that he still is so underrated

Selva's best i feel is mayakkam enna, the ending was so classy, for 5 short minutes, i was amazed thathe actually ended it in that way, and as an audience i felt like, i wish i wish i could see Kartik's reaction when Yamini had spoken to him after so many years..

Mayakkam Enna was good. Too depressing though. My favorite Selva movies are 7G and Kadhal Kondein.

Yeah Mayakkam Enna is not everybody's cup of tea, and not even every actor's cup of tea .. i like it because may be the whole concept was never seen before ...
Kadal konden was heartbreaking .. Infact i know am not supposed to say this, eventhough Vinod was a psychopath, i felt miserable for him ..

I love 7G, mostly because of the songs. The songs are classic and were a rage at one point. It's one of Selva's best movies. Kadal Kondein freaked me out. I have watched it only once. 😆

Some of Selva's movies are depressing, not as depressing as Bala's movies though. They are like heights! Except for Pithamagan, I don't think I could watch any other movie more than once.

I think Vikram and Surya are very much popular. In fact, Vikram and Surya's reach is beyond the regions of TN. It extends towards Telugu and Kannada speaking areas as well. I'm not so sure if Dhanush is there yet? Do correct me if I'm wrong.

To add to the discussion, my favorite is 7G too..Its such a poignant film..The concept, the climax, emotional connect- it was all so well done..There is this one scene where the lead's dad is proud of him & gushes about his son assuming he has fallen asleep- that one scene made me cry buckets the first time i watched the film..And it has some of the best songs ever..Oh & Vikram is not underrated..He is considered to be a brilliant actor..Its just that Surya does more films & at regular intervals compared to Vikram..I'd go as far as saying Vikarm is one of the best actors out there..Better than Surya & Dhanush IMO 😆

seems like Selva is famous over here .. i would add up that, he has his own touch, just how as an audience you feel strangely sad at heart while he showcases his protagonists onscreen.. when you watch a selva film, u will get it that yeah its something which only he could manage to bring out..
I have watched the bengali remake of kadal konden too, and even the telugu on, and each time it just makes u root for the tamil one more and more.. there was a horror down my brain when i had read boney kapoor had bought the hindi rights for kadal konden and arjun kapoor would do Vinod, thank God for small mercies that it never happened ...

About Vikram, i said he is underrated based on the superstardom, because i see guys like Vijay and all who are not good as an actors but still so hugely popular, in that comparison only Vikram is underrated, otherwise as an actor he is always appreciated how Dhanush always is ..

and to end, it i just hate the fact that selva's next film is with Simbhu, god knows what has bitten him...

Yeah true..Vikram ain't as commercially successful as Vijay..Thats probably because Vijay does full blown commercial films & he is a good dancer..Its totally his forte & he was popular much before Vikram made it..Vikram was more of a struggler & made it big very late..
Kadhal Kondein sorta creeped me out tbh..It was a good concept & i loved the climax but i'd choose 7G over it any day..It was the better film IMO 😆 Oh & Simbu is freaking annoying but he can be good provided he is under a good director..I really liked him in Vinnaithandi Varuvaya( Hindi version of Ek Haseena Thi)..Its the only film of his i have liked & Selva is a good director so he might do well for all we know 😆

There was a phase whe Vikram used to rule. His movie (Dhool) would even out-do a Kamal Hasaan's movie (Anbe-Sivam) . Gemini, Saamy, Pithamagan...wide range and huge fan following. So now when I see Vijay's trashy films being appreciated, I'm like W*F! I don't see anything in that guy. No style, no looks, no acting. Nothing. I didn't even enjoy thupakki, thanks to him. 😆
