Why?

You think it is compulsory for SRK to feature in such polls all the time? He didn't even feature in The Week's poll on Most Admired Indians in the 90s when he was at his peak. And Dhoni is never preferred over Sachin. Neither Kohli. Sachin Tendulkar is the most admired Indian sportsman.

The responses of few in this thread speak volumes on ignorance.

Anyone who knows about India would never ask who Kiran Bedi is. First woman IPS officer of India, felicitated by UN, winner of several awards, idol of billions and a Magsaysay Award winner. Now CM candidate in Delhi from BJP.
She has been winning Most admired woman of India polls by all national media outlets since 70s!

This is just one of the many lists she featured in. Yet it's asked who is she!

Kailash Sathyarthi is Nobel Peace Prize winner of 2014. He is all over media since his win. But I guess some don't follow news about own country.

Modi topping is no surprise. He is insanely popular. More than any film star as of last 1 year.

Sonia must have featured because she's still the only one holding Gandhi family legacy together and still the most powerful in Congress. Rahul is bashed more for being an unworthy heir.

Warren Buffet had visited India last year or so and interacted with college students too. Internet savvy populace does know about him.

Katrina gets votes because the fact that she came from nowhere and didn't even know language but still succeeded attracts people.

Kareena has the lineage and is married to royalty, glamorous and famous - it must have made her seem aspirational

Salman Khan tops Ormax surveys too. It's a fact he is liked. Being Human has a lot to do with it besides his bindaas attitude, looks and style.

That said people should have gotten online and voted for their favs. No point in getting riled up now.

Though it's funny how internet polls are legit in case own fav wins but are laughable or unbelievable if one's fav doesn't feature at all.

Yes that's true if it's called only an internet based survey.On ground level the actual ppl I don't think many know about him. Otherwise other winners like Katrina,Salman etc their names may come in any poll. Many ppl do know about them. In fact they are much more popular in general population.Thats not a surprise.

No AFAIR, he came like 4-5 yrs back and invested in insurance business here. The insurance closed shop in couple of years,maybe in 2013. So he must have come to India in 2010 or 2011.

All I remember is that he did interact with college students and appeared on all channels.

Warren Buffet is much quoted personality in motivational books and newspapers too.

So internet savvy people do have an idea about him.

Also the personalities were selected by panelists from around the world. Its not general public which selected the personalities. If you check out the most admired of all countries the survey took place in, there are common famous ppl like Warren Buffett in all the list. Along with the world famous personalities , local personalities are added in.Malala has topped most of countries list.

Oh Kiran bedi used to be admired once but once she got into politics first with

AAP and now BJP and did tu tu main main with other politicians..i dont know

recently she is talking really weird stuff about Kejriwal on tv. saying she

blocked kejriwal on twitter many months ago or something...and getting

personal.

modi is having to back her up in her campaign for delhi.

as for jackie chan being picked over srk in indias most admired..i mean if katrina

could be voted for being aspirational because she couldnt talk hindi and made it big

srk became a huge star after nothing, his dad died when he was 14 and he lived in

rented digs and he has this huge aura, is the life of award shows, is entreprenuerial

has hosted KBC, is a producer, has a cricket team etc.

whereas salman is known for beating up ash, and kat. and not being married,
