in USA and many western countries, U can sue the management if a customer slipped on the floor and can show $1000s bill. A parent can be arrested if he/she just smacked the kid on his bottom for behaving so badly that cud harm the kid himself. In NZ, a "Breakfast" show host was forced to resigned coz he made joke on the then Delhi CM "Sheela Dixit", he commented " Sheela Dick-shit... buahahahaha".
Just dig in ur own backyard before putting India to shame. W*F if freedom of speech? In NZ, the word "bas***d" is totally OK, for Indians its not. In my part of India, BC and MC words r totally ok but in NZ, they r not like MF or SF.

India and western world have diff. culture and sensibilities... and even my 5 years old understand that.
R we forcing our sensibities on them, or shud we adopt their culture to India so we can safely say we a democracy?

If the argument is that India have bigger problems so ignore such insignificant one... Ok then, we all have bigger problems in life, does that mean we ignore our son saying the f**k words to all n sundry? Nah, I shud rather sort out my mortgage first... it may take 10 years.. after that I will deal with my son's language. 👏

If its abt politicians... they r nuts in any country. U cant judge the whole country for a stpd CM's comments. There r so many videos and cartoons almost roasting politicians in media and on internet.. if they had power, it wudnt happen.

My stand is.. Roast is not a dost for India.. its a ghost. History.

They all basically had the same types of jokes worded in various ways. Tanmay Bhat is fat, Ranveer is a s**t, Ranjeev Masand's biased movie reviews, Arjun is a failure who lost weight, Karan Johar is gay (casting couch references), Ashish is dark skinned, Rohan & Aditi Mittal are not funny,Abish is a virgin, Raghu's Roadies suck, and there weren't much jokes on Khamba... Everyone was saying the exact same thing OVER AND OVER AND OVER again... Got repetitive and boring IMHO...

However, some jokes were funny here and there and they gave a strict disclaimer before the show.. Even Karan gave a disclaimer before it all kick-started... If you can't handle it and get offended, DO NOT WATCH... SIMPLE... Its a form of entertainment for a certain audience with clear disclaimers. Don't watch it and then complain about how it is a "national shame"... You were warned..I don't think it should have been taken down... It isn't for everyone... And this is why the government SUCKS in India... I mean, look at the things going on in the nation... Rape, poverty, hunger, corruption, child marriage, etc.. But nope, this is what they choose to focus on... A harmless friggin' show... po*n is as free and accessible as Youtube videos... Also, today's generation is smart enough to make out all the double meaning item numbers...Taking the video down didn't help anybody... I personally think that its a national shame that with all the things going on in India, the government has nothing better to do... Shows how hard they are working to "better" the future of the country...*sigh*...🥱

wholeheartedly agree 👏

In fact I'm a little annoyed at you cuz now I can't make my most in which I was gonna say literally everything that you did 😆

But yes. The show wasn't LMAO funny--> so yeah, the montage of deepika, sonakshi, alia, and anurag kashyap fighting for breath laughing was a litttle bit too much lol.

Still, will have to say the Bollywood people involved were great sports. If there's one thing that's for certain, its that Bwood celebs are THE MOST ANAL BEINGS on the face of the earth. So with that in mind, its more than refreshing to see fairly big, A-list people being game to open mockery and laughing at themselves.

As for the show, yeah it wasn't hilarious, but there definitely were some good ones. The snorting K was jokes, and how Rohan immediately went on to say "Alia, don't even bother" 😆. Was also glad to discover Aditi Mittal, hadn't actually heard of her before but she was definitely one of the funniest of the night! Her thank you to Deepika for "taking one for the team" was hilarious 😆

I think AIB were, for the lack of better words, naive? I mean what did they expect, introducing something like a roast, that too to the country's second most worshipped group, Bollywood? OF COURSE there are gonna be as ridiculous limits reached as threats to investigations, threats to tear down movies of the people involved, people being ridiculously dramatic stating that "national shame" has been drawn.

I mean dya really wanna talk about national shame? We are STILL the country full of people that is regarded as a group of smelly, horny, dirty people who can't seem to stop going on daily rape rampages.
Do we really need a new entity to point to for blaming our national shame? IMO that's one reserve India will never be poor in.

I don't feel bad for AIB, because they should've seen this coming.

Also, I'm not even siding with the whole "freedom of speech" argument.

However, what's fairly annoying is how AIB's roast had OUTRIGHT statements which people seem to get all touchy about, when about 90% of the current songs we have out, item numbers, Prabhu Deva dialogues and what have you, are freaking exactly the same , just disguised under stupider language and glam and glory so that it looks ok in a movie setting.

Is it just the mere mention of penises, jerking off, cumming, entering, exiting, that seems to be a big deal?

I was reading the comments and some people are really milking the freedom of expression. Yes u have fundamental rights but u have fundamental duties too, remember that. Under the veil of the freedom of expression, you don't have the right to hurl abuses or make vulgar jokes. As long as they did on themselves , I had no issues but unnecessarily dragging farida jalal or reema lagoo was crass. Most of the supporters also seem to be suffering from GCS- the gori chamri syndrome which means that wht goras do must be cool and is right. Everything tht works for them might not work in India . Why can't I file Fir- It is my right too - right to object. The case would not stand but hey I can object like u can express 😊

trust someone criticizing their own country to be accused of a 'syndrome'.

Yes, we lick white people's feet for a living. Got a problem?

^ define bakchodi, mate

To me, bakchodi is being completely okay with perversion, sexual jabs, and vulgarity when it's disguised as a chart-topping blockbuster song that people can shake their pelvis too
and then

getting their undergarments twisted when people do the exact same thing out in the open, with no filter.

I can't tolerate bakchodi either, as it appears to be 😆

^ how so?

Did you not read my previous post?
I didn't love all of the jokes they made either.

BUT, I'm okay with what they did, because it was what it was meant to be- a no bars held show.

I do hold different standards for mainstream media, because I don't think Bollywood has ever made the pact of being a take-it-or-leave-it package where a film classified as "U' is actualy okay for everyone to watch.

I don't think I'm being a hypocrite at all. There's a time and place for anything, and I think AIB fit their time and place well by stating their intentions clearly.
I do not think Bollywood does that appropriately, and that's fair enough 😊
