The occupancy was 90% (small hall) with extra kick of dopamine crowd assisted my view on the movie. Those crowd were happening & chilled out. Love them.

WARNING: No heavy spoilers

What I love/hate

Love: Enjoyable due to the witty dialogue. Tremendous team players from leads to supporting actors & cameo. The soul of the movie totally disparates from RSVP, Ladies vs Ricky bahl & Dawaat.

Hate: The duration of movie. Not enough footage, the addition of 10 minutes more could change the whole movie. What a great loss.

Favorite/ Least favorite scene
Favorite: Interval scene.

Least favorite: 4 minutes of Fashion Khatam. It could be used for back story scene instead. Unless they add 10 minutes more of the duration.

Best/worst thing about Sonam's role
Best: Relatable at certain points.

worst: Nothing outstanding because it didn't really call for her to do much.

MVP
Raj, the sugarcane farmer.

Anything else

Granny scene was beyond awesome. Apart from that, movie indirectly caused me to root for Saif & Sonam now, besides it triggered my eagerness towards PRDP double than usual. Regardless of what critics said, I laughed a lot exclusively on the 2nd half.

Conclusion
Not a supreme but definitely a worthy movie. Funny dialogue with great performance of the team players made the plot holes of the movie were tolerable (at least while watching it).

My sentiments too !! You've listed everything I felt post watching it.

The protagonist was Dolly but it was Sonu that stole my heart completely.
The casting of this film was perfect, each actor suited the role they were given and elevated the flimsy storyline to another level, it's biggest strength not only lies in the main cast but also the supporting from Zeeshan (can't wait to see him shine in the Katha remake and whatever other projects he undertakes), Archana Puran Singh, Manoj Joshi and the fake grandmother in the film too had me laughing.

They easily could've done away with Fashion Khatam and used those 4 minutes for a background story, the plot holes could've been explained with in like 5/10 mins but I don't know if it was due to the small budget or they didn't really think it was important to explain every single thing.

I'm so happy they didn't go down the DEI/LVRB route. Unconventional ending any day !! 👏

Woot !! Saif Ali Khan cameo, he looks hot if I say so myself 😉

What a loss. Due to those pricey 5 minutes, it will get 3.5/5 from me if not.
I think due to the budget problem. They cant gamble a lot with Sonam and new heroes, so I bet the result also worth with what production house had risked. It's like they unable to catch a big fish, but definitely caught one edible fish. Plus like what Shariff badmash said, they cut the duration to maximize the number of shows per day as well. Ticket is expensive, damn local distributor in my country. How I wished to watch big banners project only after this merely for this price reason.😆

Yup, obviously they changed the ending recently. Sonam looked slimmer in that last scene compared to other major scenes in DkD. Good, they make me curious on PRDP now. I am energetic for that movie due to DkD's ending.😆

Plus point, i feel the decision that Sonam made for joining this movie is damn right. Her character was not developed well but still I got to see her consistency now post Rhaanjana. I am glad on that department as she grows a lot compared to her Simran & Aisha's days. With her, i dont need a high mountain of changes to feel proud. heart is getting senti*😆

Box-office report - Baby v/s Dolly Ki Doli

As far as box-office is concerned, the start of 2015 has been quite under whelming - with the highly anticipated Tevar bombing and Alone hardly making any impact. But looks like a 100 crore film is on it's way...

Today's two big releases are the Akshay Kumar starrer Baby and the Sonam Kapoor starrer Dolly Ki Doli.

Baby is a multi starrer featuring Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa, Rana Daggubati, Rasheed Naz and is helmed by Special 26 director Neeraj Pandey, hence the expectations are high.
The film has been allotted 2000 - 2500 screens and has opened to a good occupancy today. Its target audience is the single screen as well as the multiplex audience but from the looks of the first day occupancy, the film is doing better in the latter circuit. This multi-starrer might make a collection of INR 10 to 15 crore on its first day. And given, the rave reviews it's receiving, a positive flwo of word of mouth will work wonders for the film over the long weekend to come.

On the other hand, Dolly Ki Doli is a fun and peppy con film starring Sonam Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma in lead roles. The film has been allotted around 1600 - 1700 screens and has opened to an average occupancy. Targeted thoroughly for the urban and multiplex audience, Dolly Ki Doli might mint around INR 4 to 5 crore today. Despite being promoted thoroughly across the country, the film is receiving a lukewarm response and is getting mixed reviews. The slow start might just be a bump since today is a working day. So the awaiting weekend will be the real litmus test.

Both these films have an advantage of the long weekend that includes a public holiday on Monday. While Dolly Ki Doli will have to rely on a good flow of word of mouth, the 3-day weekend will benefit Baby to a great extent, as it's a patriotic film releasing 2 days prior to Republic Day i.e. 26th January.

Given its star value combined with the rich content, Baby is likely to be 2015's first entry into the 100 crore club.

Baby Struggles On Day One

Baby has struggled at the box office on day one with collections likely to come in at around the 7.50 crore nett mark. The film has come out a bit better than what it looked like in the morning but there has not been that major leap in business that could have taken it to the 9-10 crore nett range.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The excellent Baby got 7.5 cr opening. I bet if DkD could get 2.0 cr, I will be crying @ some corners. tear of happiness. Indeed poor opening for both movie.😆 Hope both movies will show the growth on the weekend.

From what I can remember Sonam said they shot for the film for 30 - 40 days, that was the schedule. It makes sense now after finding out that the film is only 100 mins. Even if they wanted to make changes in the film besides the ending, I think it would've been too hard to get everyone and work out the dates etc in time for release. The end results fine so ... 😊

Did you notice even the intro was short, it just showed Abhishek's name and the film started ? 😆

As for Sonam - 👏 . Fortunately or unfortunately she's getting those movie deals and will be sticking around. #babajikathullu

Which was exactly why they were able to film the ending. It was mainly Sonam, the family and Pulkit.
As for the cost of DKD, I'll leave it up to you or Nora or someone reliable cause I haven't seen anything in that regards.
I love the intro for Khoobsurat, the song is fine when there are visuals 😆 (It's an addictive number.)
