Rashmika's Thamma opening day at 25 cr - True blue superstar
Bipasha Basu's erotic thriller with actor Karan Singh Grover, Alone had a rough start at first. The film is a combination of intimacy, horror and thriller, and it had a slow start on its opening day with total collection of only around Rs. 3.50 Crore (35 Million). It was expected that the film's box office collection would progress on the second day. However, Bipasha's Alone did no such progress that was expected from the film. On Saturday, the erotic horror film did same and earned around Rs. 3.50 Crore (35 Million). The next day, the filmed managed to pull around Rs. 4 Crore (40 Million).
Going by the digits, Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover starrer film drastically failed on the box office. On its first weekend, the film only managed to collect around Rs. 11 Crore (11 Million). The much anticipated film, Alone' failed to amuse the audiences and received mixed reviews from the critics. The film couldn't deliver what was expected from it.
Directed by Bhushan Patel, the film is a remake of a 2007 Thai film, couldn't create any magic on the box office. The film did poorly on the multiplexes as well as on the single screens.
Bipasha Basu's last few releases had put her in the back foot. Be it Aatma, Humshakals or Creature, the dismal performances had certainly put in brakes on the actress' career. But Alone has definitely helped her revive her falling career. Ask why and here's the answer.
Alone released in a limited number of screens and clashed with three other releases of the week- Zayed Khan'sSharafat Gayi Tel Lene, Crazy Kukkad Familyand Vikram's I. While the first two had disastrous openings at the box office, it was only Vikram's I that could have still given Alone a run for its money.
But the hi-tech film could not live up to its expectations and did not make quite an impact in most places except South. Alone, on the other hand managed a decent business in the range of Rs 14 crore in the first three days itself. Made on a comparatively lower budget, the film will have another few days to bring in few more crores and trod into the hit space.
Alone has another 4 days to bring in as much moolah it can because with Sonam Kapoor'sDolly Ki Doli and Akshay Kumar's Baby hitting the screens together on January 23, Alone willface another screen crunch and stiff competition from the two films is expected. But the collections by far should make Bips happy, given that her last three films were total washouts.

Bipasha Basu
As was predicted in this column last week, it was Alone that led the show at the box office. This horrex affair had a target audience in mind and in that aspect, the Bhushan Patel film pretty much scored in the territories and the centres where it was expected to do well. As a result, the film did well. Though multiplexes remained less busy during the weekend, the film scored when it came to the power of the masses, as a result of which there was an influx of 14 crores.
Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover in Alone
These are better collections than Bipasha Basus last couple of supernatural films - Creatureand Aatma. In fact for a woman-centric film, Bipasha has managed to showcase yet again that she is charting her own path. The film basically has a week to score well since Baby and Dolly Ki Doli arrive very soon (with chances of Messenger of God coming in as well), which means the count of shows would be curtailed in the second week.
Sonam Kapoor
Dubbed film - I had a low start, though it was still better than many other Tamil and Telugu films that arrive in Hindi at a pan-India level. At around 7 crores on the weekend, it has crossed the lifetime business of Vikrams last Hindi release - David. In fact the film is going in the same direction as Kamal Haasans Vishwaroop which had similar collections and while 10 crores would be crossed, it would be interesting to see how far it goes from there.
As expected though, both Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene as well as Crazy Cukkad Family were washouts on Day One itself, though the Zayed Khan starrer did fetch better reviews than expected. Much more planned promotion, marketing and release could have helped its cause.
