C'mon we all are not kids here to understand the bolly statistics,.. 😊
frst day and frst weekend is all about THE STAR POWER,..
and after that its about WOM and reviews,..

SRK's star pull is pretty clear,.. look @ these 40 crores opening,.. 🤪
movie was an 'Underperformer' (but not a flop/average) cox it was more of a 1 time watch movie,..

I think it is a combination of his films and audience taste. SRK's strengths were playing the guy next door romantic hero and the anti hero really well. If you are the romantic hero, chemistry is important. The thing with SRK was, he could convince you he loved the girl in front of him by just the way he looked at them. I can't remember Aamir or Salman having that kind of chemistry with a lot of their heroines, but apart from Kajol whose chemistry with SRK was legendary and my fave, I have liked him with Juhi, Madhuri, Rani, Manisha, PC, to name a few.

But things changed. Before JTHJ if you have told me SRK kissing would want me to hurl instead of going aww, I would have called you crazy. There was absolutely zero and to make it worse cold, cold chemistry there with both girls.

Fast forward to Happy New Year and those abs 🤔. Oye. . SRK to me is the simple Raj and Rahul, not looking like some middle age guys of indeterminate age trying to recapture their youth. It is the cinematic version of the bald middle age guy with the red convertible and the young blond. In this case, the young blonde was a beautiful brunette Deepika and it made me hurl again, not go aww especially because of those abs , the same image, middle aged guy trying to recapture youth, beautiful young girl 😵.

Finally, if eyes are the windows to the soul, SRK's were to his craft and making you believe he loved the woman in front of him. That is missing now. So time to perhaps hang up the romantic hero role and play mature parts.

Diwali isn't as good of a holiday release as Eid and Christmas. Hence why Chennai did well last year.

Nothing to do with Srk. Salman or Aamir.

Simple.

EXACTLY!

I don't know how many times I've had to repeat this exact same thing!

Mark my words: If HNY and Kick switched release periods, with HNY coming on Eid period and Kick coming on Diwali period, HNY would've had higher lifetime collections than Kick!

Also, a record-breaking opening of 44 crores means that SRK's star power is still very much there. Just before this, Chennai Express also had record-breaking opening and beat 3 Idiots to become biggest lifetime grosser ever in India.

People are saying that Masala genre doesn't suit SRK, but this genre has got SRK the record-breaking openings (CE and HNY) as well as entry into the 200 crore club, so majority of audience in India seems to enjoy SRK in this genre. Even in the past, his masala films have done extremely well at the box office (OSO is an example).

The big difference has been that 10 years ago, SRK was a one man show at the box office in India. He completely dominated the box office, such as in 2004 when Veer Zaara and Main Hoon Na were biggest grossers of 2004. In the later years, Aamir and Salman stepped up their game in a big way (box office wise), and newer stars have made their mark as well. It's just that there is more competition now.

That was because the pair was odd, it looked like he was romancing a wood so obviously it will look funny 🤣
But I really enjoyed his part with Anushka, so the problem comes from Katrina, and the movie's story was not that great. I blame Kat for making this movie worse than it should have been. But yeah I will watch SRK romancing over his masala crap illogical movies anyday

This doesn't have anything to do with day 1. It was a major holiday. I'm talking about the lifetime run of the film. And I never even said anything about Farah.

His audience pull was demonstrated with the 40+crore on opening day. That was just people going to watch it because of SRK. Later on WOM happens.
If people are saying that about SRK, then what about Salman's Jai Ho and Aamirs Talash. They all under-performed according to all the people here.

300 crore worldwide is under-performing, LMAO. Let the others try and beat SRK worldwide (not just UK or US I mean worldwide), then talk. SRK is the one that really got BW on the map. He has been consistent for the past 20-25 years a hit from the start which can't be said about the others. Not just an actor but has built an business worth millions.

His films in the last few years may not all have been out and out hits but they haven't flopped either. Ra One even if people don't like it you can't deny him the credit of bringing a new style of work to India, just look at the VFX, graphics and all. It was completely different and looked great. He has been the most consistent. Anyone one can cut and paste a format of a film and make about 20 of it so that they can keep making money because finally they got a winning formula. It takes guts to do something different.

Oh and if you watch HNY the first thing that hits you is the quality of graphics and everything.

Others may be having a good few years, but lets not forget they have had a long list of proper flops when SRK was still ruling and even now in his so called bad period he still isn't a flop. His films were the only ones that were doing well 6-7 years ago, other films were just being made for the sake of it and only a few other films did well.

No right. 😆 Sallu is doing something right - music, catchy dialogues, funny dance moves. Idk, but he's got a good hold on the crap formula.

Shahrukh looks and acts weird doing all this stuff - action masala, slapstick humour. Doesn't suit him. Never has. His Baadshah (more than 10 years back) failed, his Ra.One also failed. So clearly the audience expects cheesy stuff like KHNH and MHN and OSO from him.

SRK doesn't need to do what SK and AK are doing...why can't he just do a real hard hitting role for crying out loud.
