WAITING FOR SALMAN
Khan's film with Sooraj Barjatya will no longer be shot in a start-to-finish schedule; the actor has to finish Kabir Khan's film first
It was always going to be ambitious to get one of the busiest actors in Bollywood, Salman Khan, to shoot for six months at a stretch. But Sooraj Barjatya, for his much-anticipated reunion film with Salman (Barjatya catapulted Salman to fame with Maine Pyar Kiya in 1989, but hasn't directed the actor since 1999, when they did Hum Saath Saath Hain), had wanted a start-to-finish shoot schedule.
As it turns out, Salman's commitment towards another project " a film with director Kabir Khan " is going to disrupt Barjatya's plans. It seems Kabir's shoot cannot be kept on hold, since it's set against Delhi in the winter months.
A source close to Barjatya reveals, "The initial plan of shooting in a single schedule lasting roughly six months will no longer be possible. Kabir's film has to happen between November and January, since they need to shoot in Delhi during winter. That means Salman will have to take a break from his film with Barjatya, and work on the project will only resume next year." Interestingly, if this reshuffle goes as now planned, it'll be Kabir's film that will be shot in one go.
The shoot for Barjatya's film has so far happened only in Karjat, on the outskirts of Mumbai, where an elaborate set for a palace (Salman, apparently, plays a royal in the film) has been erected. The source adds that Salman "will wrap up the parts that need to be shot in Karjat and, next year, they will shoot in Gujarat".
ere have been a few other, minor hiccups along the way as well. Salman's already taken two mini breaks, once to promote his last release, Kick, and then for his ongoing reality TV show. Meanwhile, Barjatya's elder son, who was assisting him on this film, has now been asked to head the television division of the production house. As a result, "Barjatya has now got his younger son on board as an assistant director," the source adds.
