This is another misconception bro. Jai Ho didn't actually have negative WOM. There was no negativity around the film as there were a lot of people who at least appreciated the message in the film. The film's lifetime business was affected due to it's below the mark opening and because of it's release period (Jan-Feb period). If I remember correctly, the highest grosser ever during this period is Agneepath, which finished at just about 120 crores itself.

If we actually look at it, Jai Ho lifetime isn't bad because for biggest non-holiday grossers (lifetime), this film is one of the top (along with Ram Leela and maybe another film or so). The films released post-IPL are considered non-holiday releases, but summer vacations for students start up around then so it is kind of like a holiday period.

Yup there was also a lot of controversy which prevented some from watching the film in theatres. Even though reviews were not good, the WOM wasn't bad. I think it had decent WOM in India 😊

I agree. I personally found Bang Bang very entertaining. But then I didn't take any intellectual standards with me when I started watching it. I feel that often times, people try to enforce unnecessary intellectual criteria (or logic, as the popular word is) when watching a movie. C'mon, how intellectual is "Gandhigiri" in that 2nd Munna Bhai movie?

I feel there is a big gap between the critics and the "mass". See, all the audience wants is a good time. They work hard and want to spend their money on something that entertains/stimulates them every month/two weeks. An ordinary member of the audience is not a "film buff", and after a week of hard work, does not give a damn about whether or not the logic was there in the movie. All he/she cares about is the overall impression. This the what the critics and other pseudo intellectuals don't understand: the expectations of a common movie-goer.

word 👏 i second this ⭐️

The film had good comedy in my opinion. The scene where Ritesh and Saif are on the ceiling and Ritesh is trying to control his pee 🤣 and when Esha Gupta says that in some cases of OCD the patient washes his hands with soap so much that his hands start to bleed 🤣.

@Zah.Of.RoZaNa I think that Singham Returns had atleast decent WOM. Not great but not bad either. And I think EK Villain WOM was positive but it lacked repeat value for a lot of people and that's why it didn't have excellent box office trending.

Agree with this!EV was not for family audience and also lacked comic/light hearted entertainment elements which would guarantee a repeat value. Also the Ramadan fast affected the business vastly. The movie WOM was most positive to mixed, not really negative.
