Aamir Khan: Shah Rukh's popularity benefits me

Oct 23, 2014, 04.56PM IST TNN[ Seema Sinha ]

Aamir Khan has had a series of releases during Christmas and he has once again locked the festive season for P.K.

The actor previously tasted box office success with Taare Zameen Par, Ghajini and 3 Idiots, and all of them came out during Christmas with their trailers being launched on Diwali. Shah Rukh Khan is known to release his films during the festive period of Diwali.

Successive Diwalis have paid Shah Rukh rich dividends just as Eid has proved lucky for Salman Khan. And Aamir has managed to attach his upcoming film PK's theatrical trailer with Happy New Year's release date, that is, October 23.

In 2008, while SRK-starrer Rab Ne Bana di Jodi was still getting screened at the theatres, Aamir used his marketing brain and made the ushers of the theatre get the Ghajini cut. His action bonanza was slated to release within a few days of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. "It is just a coincidence that Shah Rukh and I clash around the same time. For the last five years I have been releasing my film on Christmas," said Aamir, further adding, "Shah Rukh's popularity benefits me. By attaching my film's trailer with his film, my film definitely stands to gain."

@Aish
Sadly I didn't like the movie. I went 3 times to watch CE but this time it's just one time thing and frustrating JTHJ type of deja vu feelings are haunting me :(

I saw Happy New Year. I really enjoyed the movie. It was simply a fun feel good movie that was entertaining. Nothing more and nothing less. Deepika and Abhishek were indeed the stand outs. So SRK and the reviews were bang on correct about that. Abhishek was super hilarious. I'm happy to see that he is getting a lot of praise because he deserves it in my opinion. Deepika's character was the anchor and heart of the film. And she looked super gorgeous in the movie. Deepika had a central role with significant screen time. And as a fan I'm very happy that Deepika has been given accolades(and praise) from the vast majority of critics and the audience for her performance in Happy New Year.

However the entire cast was good in their roles. And one could see that the close offscreen camaraderie really helped them showcase it onscreen in the movie. SRK was in top form and held the film together from beginning to end. It is commendable that SRK did not hog all of the spotlight and let everyone else shine in the movie as well. Farah did a good job with the direction of the film and has proved herself after the disastrous TMK. I'm glad that the film is putting up big box office numbers and that the audience seems to really be appreciating it. I hope it continues on so that the film can become an even bigger success. Congrats to the entire Happy New Year team!!

Watched HNY! Frankly speaking, I found it an entertaining one 😛 Will give detailed review later on in other threads too. 😳 And yes, Abhishek was way too hilarious as Nandu! 🤣 Like each person sitting in the theatre was laughing badly when he started undressing himself in the locker area 🤣 🤣 Rohan was cute ❤️ Jag was a hot stud. 🤪 Boman as Tamy was adorable, and his scenes with Peter were funny as well 😆

Deepika was absolutely stunning during WDC Finale And I have no words left for my SRK. ❤️ I can never get enough of Charlie ❤️ <3
